I’ll start this off saying this is my first rodeo with cats. My dogs in the past always did this in the middle of me sleeping and I’d just wake up to animals. My “baby” Oliver has been pregnant for almost 2 and a half months now (due any day now) . She earlier today (3 hours ago) came in my room meowing REALLY loud but chirping as well and immediately walked under my bed. Then when I got up and called her she came running but I noticed she had a red blob. Bright and dark red sticking out of down there. Panicking myself I put her in my bathroom with her birthing pin and a liter box and water and food and treats. I walked away for 3 min and I came back and it was gone. She’s been chirping and trying to hide in places and I’m not sure where the blob went. Idk what it was and I assumed it was time for kittens. But as I’ve read online Aparently there’s a mucus blob? And you wait almost a week after that? I just need a general idea on if me basically locking her up was a bad idea and I should just expect to come home from work to kittens hiding on my white carpet somewhere.

The mucus plug can be lost up to a week before labor and delivery. The red blob may not have been the plug either. It may have been her sloughing off a miscarried bit of kitten fetus. It’s tough to say without knowing everything, but it sounds like she is due any day now. Keep us posted!

So. We have kittens. 4 babies. My white comforter is ruined but it’s finnnnneeee. Currently it’s 2am and she just ditched them with me to snuggle one somewhere else and sleep.

My momma just gave birth about 12 hours ago. As of now it’s 2 am. And she has left 3 of the 4 next to me on my bed while I was trying to sleep. She won’t take them back. Keeps putting them here BUT. when they start crying comes running.
I need sleep. What am I supposed to do.

The fact that she comes when the kittens cry shows that she probably hasn't rejected them.
Does she nurse them? That's a pretty sure sign that she hasn't rejected them.

Assuming that rejection is not the issue, it's my guess that she brought them to you because she trusts you to take care of them.

Cats often think of their humans as part of their clan. If she brings her kittens to you, it's probably because you're part of her clan.

She's either showing them to you or she's trying to enlist your help in caring for them.

What is your opinion on the kittens' health condition?
Do you think they are all right?

How is the mother taking care of them, whether they are with you or with her?
Is she cuddling them, feeding them and cleaning them?

Do you have any Kitten Milk Replacement? (KMR)
I think you should get some, ASAP, if you don't already have some.
Even if a mother is healthy and taking care of her kittens, normally, it's often a good idea to feed the kittens some KMR, once in a while, in order to take some of the burden off the mother until she gets her strength back.

Maybe Mom thinks she's "dry." (Can't produce enough milk for four kittens.)
Maybe she's asking you to help feed them?

If I was in your shoes, I'd make a nest for them in bed, in a place where they won't get hurt.
I'd whip up a batch of KMR and see if I can get them to take some milk.

Check the mother's nest (birthing box?) to see that it's clean, warm and comfy.
Maybe there's something wrong in the nest and she's looking for a better place.
Maybe she just wants you to help her move the nest to a better spot.

Regardless, it looks like you're going to be "Mother's Helper" until things get sorted out.

I say to stabilize the situation well enough for you to get some sleep then continue working with Mom, in the morning, to find out what she wants.

Agree with above. I think momma feels the kitten she keeps with herself does need some extra care, and so, she lets YOU be the help momma, and herself tries to save the weak baby.
Be happy. Its common cat mommas abandons a weak kitten, to ensure the others survive. Yours tries to save the weak one.
