The Most Popular Thanksgiving Side In Every State - Zippia

Is this right for you? Canadians, I am sorry, I looked for a Canadian one and I couldn't find one. What's your favorite side? For those outside of the US and Canada, what's your favorite side dish for the holidays?

I'd say stuffing is pretty accurate for me, although it's in a tight competition with mac and cheese.

Stuffing. Well, I'd probably have to go along with that, at least in this house. If I didn't serve stuffing at Thanksgiving (and Christmas, too, for that matter), there would be a revolt!

I have never seen mac and cheese at Thanksgiving dinner either, there are already more then enough carbs. I am not a huge Green Bean Casserole fan but it is usually there and I eat some of it. Dressing or Stuffing is my favorite. It has been years since I had it stuffed in the turkey so I usually call it dressing now.

Having been to a bajillion church potlucks; I'll say it's accurate for the region but not my family. My dish to make is always a broccoli or spinach puff. DH's favorite is accurate to his home state and I have to make that for him too.
.....Deviled eggs? People actually eat that stuff? Indiana, what is wrong with you?
Crab Deviled Eggs with a little Old Bay are an Easter staple in my house. I use good lump crab meat for the topping mixed with creme fraiche and the smaller bits get mixed with the yolks and seasoning. :yummy: A friend I met here years ago shared a graphic on Facebook with a bunch of ways to make deviled eggs and we decided we would have a deviled egg party if we could. :lol2:

I also refuse to believe that this is true. Then again, IMO deviled eggs are heinous. The name says it all. They are from the devil. :barfgreen: :devilish:

I'm in Florida. Sweet potato casserole? Sorry. No. I disagree with that as well. I'd go with stuffing as my favorite. I've been here almost 20 years and have never had sweet potato casserole for Thanksgiving at anyone's house. :dunno:

Lol, that's what goes first in our family. Can't make enough of them!

I love stuffing; sometimes I just make a box of Stovetop for dinner. Also mashed potatoes with gravy, and green bean casserole. I honestly don't care for the turkey though. It's either dry or greasy and I don't like plain meat anyway. I always mix it with the mashed potatoes.

I've never had mac & cheese as a side. It's usually the main event.

My mom would take the leftover turkey and make turkey soup with it. I liked that much better than the plain turkey!

Yes, probably. I love mashed potatoes! I do love rolls and cranberry sauce as well, however. 🤔

I've never had most of those side dishes. Our Thanksgivings weren't typical of most Americans who have been living in the country for generations. My parents were immigrants to the US so things like green bean casserole and cranberry sauce were foreign to them. We had turkey and boring stuffing (bagged stuffing mix with celery and onion and tons of salt mixed in. Blech :barfgreen: ), maybe plain baked potatoes. Sometimes Mom made her version of a sweet potato casserole that had a glaze consisting of 2 sticks of butter and half a bag of light brown sugar :barfgreen: I think someone showed her that particular recipe long ago when she had just moved to the US. We'd have other side dishes but those weren't any different from what we'd have on a normal day: sauteed veggies, something weird like offlal or dried fish for dad to eat, etc.

My mother loved sweet potato casserole. :barfgreen: I think my favorite is really the French bread that I bake, with my second choice being dressing. We never stuffed the bird so baked it on the side. I have made mac and cheese because my daughter is vegetarian and I wanted her to have something more substantial than just the vegetables.

That's always my least favorite also. I usually make a large ham also on Thanksgiving and more of that tends to go than the turkey!
