Good morning! :wave3:

To dunk or not to dunk? Do you dunk cookies or cake? What do you dunk your cookies in? Milk? Coffee? Other?

Dear Richard is a confirmed dunker. He'll dunk his cookies in milk or in his iced coffee. Sometimes even iced tea. His cake, too.
Me? I rarely dunk anything.

What about you?

Not a dunker but I am married to one and gave birth to another. Both dunk cookies in milk.

I will dunk cookies sometimes (I like them both ways), but dunking cake seems like a bit of a mess?

Usually milk, but will do hot chocolate or occasionally coffee.

I dunk cookies in milk, hot chocolate, or chai latte. I have never heard of anyone dunking cake, how does that even work without it falling apart as soon as it starts soaking up whatever it is?

I am not a dunker. I don't want cookies or cake that are wet. The first time I tried tres leches cake I was horrified. The taste was fine. The milk dripping out of it was what I was not prepared for. Yes. I know what the name means. I did not think it would be soaking wet though. :running:

Kat0121 Kat0121 There's a restaurant in the area that makes a wonderful tres leches cake and it's not sopping wet. I wouldn't be fond of that either and won't make one. But this was really delicious. A little on the heavy side with all the milk. But really good.

Lari Lari Talien Talien Rick manages, but sometimes it does make a mess. What he'll sometimes do is put the hunk of cake into a bowl, then pour milk over it. And eat it that way. Yes, it will fall apart, but he likes it that way. Ick He also likes it when the cookie falls apart and drops into his milk. Then he can spoon it out.

I used to bake a honey bun cake and mail it to a buddy in Bemidji, MN. He got one for his birthday and another one around Christmas. He always said that, when he received his cake, he'd unpack it, put it on the kitchen table, pour milk into the cake pan and dig in. That's just so.....WRONG! It's a 13 x 9-inch cake and he just sits there and chows down!

Yep, that's what I like to do too! (Obviously, if I'm at a party or something it's not an option, but it I'm at home that's what I do.) I also pour milk/coffee cream over pancakes so that they're soggy. Not enough to make them fall apart, just saturated enough to not be dry. If I think I'm with someone who will think that's uncouth, I'll take a bite then a sip of milk but that's really second-best. I really don't like to have a mouthful of dry crumbles.

So, yes, definitely a dunker! Or a soaker anyway. . .

Not a regular dunker, but I occasionally dunk a Lotus Biscoff cookie or a piece of dark chocolate in coffee.
I love Biscoff cookies and always have a supply in the house. I discovered them on an airplane flight when they served them as a snack and have been hooked ever since.

Not a dunker, I don't like the crumbs in my coffee.

Eww. No dunking! I don’t like soggy food or crumbs in drinks. (I also don’t like the different foods on my plate to touch one another. :) )

It depends on the type of cookie. Softer cookies are not dunked, except for my chocolate chip cookies that are soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside. I like cake with slightly melted ice cream or with a little milk poured over it; however, I prefer to drink tea with cake and not to dunk it. Sometimes I dunk in milk, but I prefer tea with cream or coffee with cream.

I also dunk toast in hot chocolate. My husband thought it was gross when he first saw me do it, but then he tried it. Now he is a toast dunker, too! During Yule, I will dunk cut-out cookies in hot chocolate.

I was dunking sourdough bread into my soup when I opened this thread. :yummy:

I dunk crunchie cookies. So Oreos, graham crackers, and ones like that. I can't imagine dunking my cake. Maybe a rich chocolate cake?

My Grandpa used to dunk his toast in his coffee. He'd also put his cereal in his coffee. Whatever floats your boat I guess! :lol2:

I just remembered that my in laws eat strawberry shortcake by putting it in a bowl and pouring in milk rather than putting whipped cream on top, which I do when I'm with them, though whipped cream is preferred, so I guess that's like dunking/ soaking.

Kids here ( and some adults...not me of course ) get a chocolate coated teddy bear cookie and bite a paw then ear off and dunk one end and use it like a straw sucking up coffee or milk.
Tastes good and finally collapses into a sticky chocolate mess but is good tasty fun..lol.
