That car was the BEST!!!!! I did not care that people made fun of me for having a "granny-mobile".

Don’t remember the model - it belonged to the company I took driving lessons from but I remember they had to add a booster to the pedal for me to reach it. It was before the days of the foreign subcompact car which are the only ones that fit a five footer like me.

1968 Buick Skylark convertible. I loved that car! My dad let me buy it from him after I graduated from college a few years later.

I think a Ford something? We didn't have to go to the DMV to test. It was all done at my high school and they have a few cars they use to teach the driving portion of Driver's Ed. Driver's Ed is a requirement in our state. Most of the driving teachers were also coaches. It's fun learning to drive with a football coach in the passenger seat.

I have never taken a formal driving test. I got my restricted license when I was only 14, it was 1970 and a very rural state. I took Driver's Ed when I was a freshman in high school. The instructor signed off on a form, I took that to the highway patrol station who also issued licenses. They checked my eyes and gave me the restricted license. I did have to take the written exam as part of the Driver's Ed course. The car that we had for our driving time in Driver's Ed was one of those full size GM boats from the mid 60's. They got the car during a GM strike and got a used car instead of a new car.
