Hello Hello! Welcome to the first Tuesday of December! :santa:

What is your least favourite Christmas Song?

- Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer. Speaks for itself :nervous:

- I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus. I just find it really annoying...probably the kids voice.

- Falala by Jim Brickman. Again, it is painfully irritating and sort of a "cheap" generic song to me. Keep in mind it plays constantly at my work  so it might not be as bad to others. But on repeat again and again...Oi!

I'm sure there are others but those came to mind first as usual :deer:

Santa Baby --- ack! Fake sexy-baby voice, and it's awful.

Baby it's Cold Outside --- a little rapey!

I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas --- only the fake kid's voice. The lyrics are OK.

All I want for Christmas is My 2 Front Teeth --- also the fake kid's voice.

I really can't stand that fake kid's voice or that sexy-baby voice that used to be popular for actresses.

The Little Drummer Boy. This was played so many times years ago that I got sick of it. I cringe now when I hear "thrump, dum, dum."

Little Drummer Boy has always been rather dull and boring to me.

I've never liked I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus or Santa Baby either.

There's No One Quite Like Grandma is also an incredibly cheesy British Christmas song. It's sung by a primary school choir (at the time, the kids are all in their mid forties now and the lead child who sang is now a grandma herself!) but the kid's voices just sound overly cheesy and cringey. It's always been a joke song in my family, haha.

I've always liked "Santa Baby." I assumed Santa in this was her boyfriend or husband and she was being coy with him to get a present. I've never seen anything untoward about it. It's cute.

For me it's not the song itself, it's the breathy baby voice that anyone who sings it feels like they have to use. It's annoying.

I can understand that. I've heard elsewhere that people didn't like it because she is portraying an image of women that's not acceptable today. I don't get it.

I used to hate Blue Christmas, but now I think it's very funny and I love to sing it with all the Elvis mannerisms.

I did not know that Baby, It's Cold Outside was a Christmas song. Probably because I never made it all the way through it!

Little Drummer boy is irritating.

And, yeah, the ones with the fake kid's voices are just awful.

Dominick the Donkey. The worst ever.
omg I actually love that song enough for both of us. :flail:

I've always referred to 'Baby It's Cold Outside' as "the date rape song" even though I actually think it's cute, and not rapey... I think she doesn't want rumors flying, so he has a perfect solution. I'm pretty disappointed that radio stations are yanking it, but also not surprised because everything is offensive to someone. Guess we should be glad we're even allowed to have Christmas music at all anymore.

My most hated would have to be 'The Christmas Shoes'. :barf:

While partially it's because he keeps trying to talk her into staying, while she's trying to find reasons to leave, which is at least rude if not rapey, I think the main issue is the "say, what's in this drink?" line. Which could be innocent: "hey this drink is good, what's in it?" but could also be "hey, are you trying to roofie me?" Which, considering the "jokes" on the subject in so many old movies, is at least plausible.

Yeah it's definitely creepy and rapey. DD was a teenager the first time she heard it and that's how she described it. There is NO way that anyone would get away with writing a song like that today. It's been around so long that most have gotten immune to it but it's just awful.
