@Shane Kent -- what a gorgeous little brown floofer you found there!
1 bruce 1 1 bruce 1 -- As my mom would say, "What possessed you?":shocked:
A certain social media site which shall remain unnamed is trying to thwart me, and others, in our efforts to advocate for cats in need of rescue/adoption. I would not be denied, and found a way around it. Take THAT, (social media site). Neither rain, nor sleet, nor dark of night, nor negative algorithms will stop us. :livid:I'm PAWSitive of that.

I haven't thought of Harper Valley PTA in a while! Leave it to a country singer to point out whenever someone's being a hypocrite.

Purple Haze live? Opening for the Monkees? That sounds like a beautiful memory 1CatOverTheLine 1CatOverTheLine . Maybe it's something about songs with purple in the title. Well, purple and red:

As for that flamenco guitarist tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 - listening to him play is just amazing! I'd never heard of him. Something about a family act that is always so special.

Well, our insurance isn't going to cover the ceiling collapse. So, now the fun part of shopping for different estimates comes in. Interspersed with vintage / antique shopping for new furniture, of course. The prices and selection of cool stuff here is so good that we have to rein ourselves in and not buy everything. No hipsters here yet picking over all the good stuff and trying to cover it in chalk paint, haha. We, of course, found tons of living room furniture, but think we should probably fix the ceiling first.;) Instead, got a nice couple of lamps and a big entryway mirror. We also found this:
IMG_0923.JPG

Which reminds me of your latest addition @Shane Kent. If you're looking for more collectible cats, I'll keep my eyes peeled for you!

Overall, a very PAWSITIVE day filled with lots of laughs and fun antiquing. It feels so nice to not be consumed with bad luck when it happens, and to be able to take things in stride. I don't know if it's the residual exhaustion from the move, or the extra excitement of buying a new house, or the fact that I'm not at work dealing with customers right now, but I'm happier than I've been in a while! Oh, and Lucy seems almost all the way comfortable in her new area. I think if we take the house one room at a time, she'll be back to her old self soon. An extra PAWsitive!

tinydestroyer tinydestroyer That's really awful. *Prayers* that you will find good and reasonable people to fix it, soon.
Beautiful cat figurine!!!
Manitas de Plata a/k/a Ricardo Balliardo, was widely known as the greatest Roma ("Gipsy") guitarist in all of France. Notables such as Picasso loved him. He played Carnegie Hall over here. He passed away just a few years ago. The Balliardo family has many extremely fine guitarists and their extended family included Jose Reyes, who is the singer with the mustache who you see in the video. His sons formed a band with the Balliardos who became worldwide stars, The Gipsy Kings. Here is one of their greatest songs:

I just had a weird conversation with someone on the telephone.
They called up and asked if someone named (name) "lived" here.
"Lived"? I was thrown off.
I said no, I'm sorry, you have the wrong number.
They insisted this person was there, and I checked the register, and said "...no, so sorry, no one by that name is here." ( Baby Girl climbed on my shoulders and was like "DADDY'S A JUNGLE GYM" and I resisted the urge to yell "CUT THAT OUT" and have bleeding spots on my neck to prove it. Ouch girl. That's cold blooded.)
Then they insisted someone used the wrong name and that I figure it out for them.
I said I couldn't do that and explained privacy stuff, but told them if I saw someone by that name I would mention our conversation.
They gave me a pause long enough to make me think we were disconnected. Before I could say "Hello?", they said they were calling from a town in Arkansas (that is not even remotely close to where we live) and if I found this person, to give them their name and they knew what number to call. I told then I would. Then they hung up. She didn't leave a number, but this caller ID stuff is nice. I think.
Nice lady. Strange conversation. Cute accent.

This isn't really pawsitive, but it made me think of this lyric. It's a nice tune, too, which ALWAYS makes this old fart happy. The message of the song is nice. Plus, the "old man" in the video doesn't look so old. Damn kids.:yelling:
Also this lady didn't seem crazy. But the conversation was a bit out there.

A azpops --Chewy is pretty great. How is work going? Is Santi being good?

@Alicia88 --What a good boy, Aedan! :redheartpump:

tinydestroyer tinydestroyer --You sound really happy. I'm glad the ceiling caving in didn't ruin things for you. Nice cat figurine!

@Shane Kent --That's wonderful that you found a matching kitty with the yarn figurine. :)

foxxycat foxxycat --I love Kenny Chesney, I've seen him in concert a million times. I can't say I'm really into tractors, but his is kinda sexy. ;)

1CatOverTheLine 1CatOverTheLine -- Jason Aldean makes a tractor ride sound really romantic in that video you posted. I could actually go for that.

Positive: I found one of my favorite songs from when I was a kid. I don't know if any of you will remember it, but the chorus always makes me smile. :D

Oh holy crap. Elvira. I remember the line dance I learned to this song. I wonder if I remember!

(Attempts, falls over, crashes into window, gets yelled at.)
Nope.

But this brings me back. Happy times for little ol' me.
I've tried before to try to re-do that "giddy up (deep bass voice)" and can't. But who cares. :flail:

1 bruce 1 1 bruce 1 I think Forrest Gump was right. You know, "Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get!" There are so many kinds of crazy, lonely, drugged, drunk and just plain altered states, and so many people exhibiting one or more of the above, that it's rare I meet someone and spend any time with them and still think they might be "normal". Unfortunately, quite a few of my friends have changed so markedly I can't deal with them any more. Phone calls are always interesting. We get so MANY robocalls here that I either don't answer the landline or I just pick it up and don't say anything. The "PAWS"itive part? So far, so good. But you just never know.

This lady was just so sweet. She seemed undrugged or undrunk, but who knows anymore? Maybe it was a wrong number and I didn't have the will to tell her so.
If she's looking for some person I hope she finds them at least.
Since we're approaching Halloween, these make me laugh. News people can seem so boring and robotic, so why not share them being real people?

My positive is always loving the posts , photos , music, kitties, cat figurines and people I find here. @Shane Kent Thank you for sharing treasure here!
tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 You are multitalented! Inspiring that you found a way to keep helping the kitties in spite of technology! 1 bruce 1 1 bruce 1 the bloopers video was funny but not as funny as the reaction from my cats when they heard it! I got double the laughs.
M maggiedemi I always enjoy your company! A pleasure.
1CatOverTheLine 1CatOverTheLine It is so true, Oz could never be replaced!
Oz! What big eyes you have!
Another positive is that the fall flowers are blooming. My favorite repeat bloomer, Tea Olive, is perfuming the breeze. I can never get enough of that scent. The beautiful colors of the Plumbago and Argeratum are gracing Sarah’s garden. Good night to all the cats and cat loving people out there.

Positive: Amazingly, none of our water glasses got tipped over during Milly's Zoomies early this morning!

Here is a photo of the ivy on our building around 8 AM two days ago...

1 bruce 1 1 bruce 1 - Remember saying that maybe you should have a Snowshoe? I found this just for you:

Just imagine... they only sleep about four minutes a day, and the rest of the time they're like hyperactive Tasmanian Devils on crack.

Jcatbird Jcatbird - Fabulous Autumn blues! The Asters here are blowing their end-of-Summer horns as well!

Sunrises are always PAWSITIVE- but especially when you got to sleep in a bit (it's still dark out here at my normal wake up time,) and you get to wear a cardigan which was just too darn thick for CA weather, but you bought it anyway because it's cute.
View attachment 258064
tinydestroyer tinydestroyer - That's a rival to @Shane Kent and foxxycat foxxycat 's sunrise photos! See - there are good things about there being a chill in the air, eh?

PushPurrCatPaws PushPurrCatPaws - Just incredible colour; I love the look of ivy growing against stonework!

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 - That can't be said of me, of course. I'm the normalest of them all - and if you don't believe it, you can ask any of my imaginary friends! Don't ask the invisible kangaroo, however - he's a liar!

M maggiedemi - Speaking of being a kid, here's the Oak Ridge Boys right back at ya:

Just about 55º here, under big white cotton candy skies today. The local leaf-peepers' group here claims that Autumn colour is only at 50% along the Lake Ontario shoreline - a much later, slower Autumn than last year, when October 18th was the peak. Judging from the south lawn, I'd say they were just about right - what a glorious season it is this year!

A azpops --It might just be Santi getting his winter coat. Demi & Maggie look like they put on a little weight, but it's just extra fur.

Jcatbird Jcatbird --Thank you for the kind words, they always mean a lot.

PushPurrCatPaws PushPurrCatPaws --I don't know much about ivy, but it sure looks pretty. Enjoy your ferry ride with your family.

1CatOverTheLine 1CatOverTheLine --That's a really sweet song. Kids get a bad rap, but I've always thought they were magical too. :) That pic is really pretty. Nice flowers to the right & of course the pink tree.

1 bruce 1 1 bruce 1 --You & your wife definitely deserve to be on my favorite people list if you know the "Giddy Up Oom Poppa Omm Poppa Mow Mow" song. :D

Positive: Bruce's post made me think of all the times I've been thrown off the dance floor because I can't do those line dances. And square dancing too.

But I can dance to music like this no problem:
The Tide Is High by Blondie

A azpops --Aww, I think he's just scared. Demi was like that when he first came here. My brother wanted him, but he wouldn't go with him thankfully. :D

@MoochNNoodles --Sounds yummy. Diner food is my favorite.

@ileen --Good luck at the vet tomorrow.

1CatOverTheLine 1CatOverTheLine --Loved the first one, but the second one had no words.
I gotta have my words. :) Beautiful Maple tree and whatever is to the right is pretty too.

R raysmyheart --Positive: This Dave Matthews song is for you, I know you will love it, it's similar to that other song you posted. I like the "you can rest with me" part. Beautiful words.
M maggiedemi I am sorry for being late in thanking you for the song. I do indeed remember Dave Matthews from my department store days and it was nice for you to send it to me.

Trying to find a shred of light today. I am thankful something led me home ahere on my lunch break, I left an appliance on and now can shut it off. God has saved me and I know he will continue to help me, I ask for His help.

Have a great day, all.

M maggiedemi - Very nice; I've always thought that this song really showcased her vocal range:

Pawsitive: having a great veterinarian. Mine stopped by on his way out of town, just to look at Mirò since I found a bump on her neck last night. Nothing to be concerned about, thankfully! Surprisingly, she actually likes him.

1CatOverTheLine 1CatOverTheLine I've never heard of that oakridge song...thank you for sharing! You guys keep sharing the music! I enjoy listening to something different!

M maggiedemi I forgot to tell you that I recognized that song you posted about the 1 hit wonder group. It was one of my favorite songs too...and I keep playing Please Don't Go that @Shane Kent mentioned awhile back...

PushPurrCatPaws PushPurrCatPaws love the Ivy photo! I've got one patch of Ivy in the south garden and never seen it change color...I will pay attention this month to see if it changes.

Most of trees have dropped their leaves the past few days. There's about 40% leaves left...which makes me sad. I prefer these colorful leaves..why cant they stay like that??

The other day I dropped off bubble wrap at the shop where I sell books and found this cat thingy..said it was a doorstop.

20181018_160006.jpg

tinydestroyer tinydestroyer I am sorry to hear that the insurance company won't pay for the ceiling issue. That's a real bummer! But shopping for furniture is always a fun thing to do. I tend to like the older stuff from the 1950s wood furniture..I found a 1965ish Ethan Allen bedset and a dresser to go with it. There were 2 other pieces with that set but we didn't have room for it...wish we bought them anyways cause I have room now for them. And looking for cheaper priced stuff is always the goal. I found if one gets away from the major cities and hits yard sales the prices are much more affordable. Estate sales tend to be super expensive in my opinion but it is interesting to see what people collect and how they set up their homes..

Just a few minutes ago I was teasing the Bee with treats..and got some photos of her giving me the look.

Beautiful Autumn color -- thanks to all for sharing with us out here in arid So Cali!
foxxycat foxxycat Beautiful find!
1CatOverTheLine 1CatOverTheLine Very glad for the false alarm! Elvis got some bumps during the summer time and even though he's indoor-only, I think it was miliary dermatitis. They're all gone now, and I treated everyone with Advantage, just to be on the safe side, as well as flea combing them daily.
Enjoyed watering the plants this morning. Now the birds are singing and the work is going well. Happy CATurday all!

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 - I was more than just a little chagrined after dragging him out of his way on a Saturday to hear, "it's just a scab..." no doubt from playing a little too roughly with someone. I did recover sufficiently to say, "you came all this way and didn't even bring a pizza?"

It's simply too beautiful a day here not to walk in the woods, and with that said, it's time to take a walk in the woods."

Why don't you put a sign in your yard, right next to the one about coats, stating "NO ENTRY WITHOUT LARGE PIZZA"? *Sometimes you have to whack people with a 2x4 to get 'em to wake up, yunno?*
I like mine with pineapple and jalapenos. That would be PAWSitive for me.:yummy:
