That movie, man! Best Halloween flick ever...yet very unsettling in it's own way.
I still like watching the original 80's Poltergeist movie this time of year, then reading about spooky crap and scary places and haunted stuff or whatever. Just like when I was a kid.
Trying to keep this pawsitive, and I know I've mentioned it before, but the in the Exorcist scene with the girl vomiting on the preacher was only shot once, and the vomit was actually pea soup? It's gross, yes, but it was shot once to get the preachers initial "OH GROSS" reaction but it wasn't real throw up.

When it comes to Halloween, we're not huge on it anymore but still love this video/song and listen to it a lot.
The history of the video says more than I can, so if you're interested look it up. Otherwise, just enjoy.
I love Thriller but I also like "Hocus-Pocus" with Bette Midler. I have never liked to be scared and this movie is funny and a good Halloween movie. Then there is also "The Uninvited" from the 40s after a book which I think is creepier than the movie although I like them both. I think The Uninvited could stand a new version as filmmakers now have much better special effects. And then there is "Bell, Book and Candle" with Kim Novak who makes a really nice witch.

Holy cow - with @maggiedem- and Alicia88 Alicia88 posting Grandpa by The Judds just four hours apart, I'm startin' to get the message!

;)

It got to nearly sixty today - with bright, sunny skies. Finished cleaning the pool filters, pulled the truck out and washed it, and checked the fluids just in case it should happen to snow one day this Winter ( ;) ), buttoned up the guest house, and HAD BROWNIES FOR DINNER, just like I told Mom I was gonna do when I grew up.

Super positive: No kids on the lawn - just like the other 5,016 days I've lived here!

Hocus Pocus is probably my favorite Halloween movie. We watch it every year.

I just got the freeze killed vegetation out of the backyard and probably 1/4 of it up my nose LOL now I'm going to work out, hit the shower AND think about thawing that apple pie I have :hyper:

M maggiedemi are you exercising yet?

Positive, the cat was smart and stayed inside so his mama could work unimpeded and undistracted

@foxxycat --Speaking of books, thank you for the box of Christian romance books. These should be more my style, those other ones were a little racy. :eek2:

@azpops --Glad you are okay. How is Santi doing?

Alicia88 Alicia88 --You are really killing me with the cute baby pics. I'm too old for a baby...I think?...:)

1CatOverTheLine 1CatOverTheLine --I love it, the former me. Thank you, that means a lot. It was partly because of you guys & "tough love". I'm not done improving yet.

1 bruce 1 1 bruce 1 --Thank you for the support. And I agree, there's nothing dorky about romance. Positive: I have the perfect song for you and your wife! It fits perfectly with all the other waltz songs we posted today. Here it is below:

Could I Have This Dance by Anne Murray
I love that song. Thank you thank you thank you for sharing it!!! In general I still can't resist a waltz type tune, they're timeless. I still get a dance bug in my pants when I hear ragtime, too. Good stuff!!
No one is ever done improving themselves, M maggiedemi , ever! It's all about the journey and the experiences we have and can share our wisdom we learn along the way with others. :wave3:
This one was popularized by the Shining, but the tune is really catchy and really captures the time era. (Fun fact, the song played during the scene that takes place in 1921...I had to look that up...but the song itself didn't come out until the 30's. Oh well. No one cared and neither do I).

Alicia88 Alicia88 --That was hilarious! Great minds think alike, I love that song.

1CatOverTheLine 1CatOverTheLine --I laughed so hard I fell out of my chair. I swear I wasn't thinking about the Grandpa line, just the good old days part!
I knew that was a maple! I love the Firefall name...That's George's best song.

@azpops --Sorry you had such a stressful morning, I'm bad at driving in the city where I have to merge. Hope your night goes better.

Furballsmom Furballsmom --No, I didn't start the workout yet, but that's okay, I have all winter, I'll get it done. ;)

1 bruce 1 1 bruce 1 --You're welcome, glad you liked the song! Oh, by the way, you're not supposed to do more than one post in a row on this thread.

Positive: I got my manicure/pedicure done. No of course I didn't pay for it, I did it myself. I think I did a pretty good job. :)

Outside in the sunshine a moment ago, the Firefall Maple displays the reason behind its cultivar name
This made me wish I had a Firefall Maple tree but thankfully I can enjoy it in your truly pawsitive Autumn landscape.

Cool temps and windy weather but no complaints here. The positive is the brilliant sun and clear skies. I treasure this time of year. :fallsmiley:

You have excellent taste - I love Kim Novak in that movie.

And another positive movie was I Married a Witch with Veronica Lake. But just in case a movie does not qualify as pawsitive, I am being held captive by a snoozing cream colored fur ball who has captured my heart. :redheartpump:

M maggiedemi My ex's mom loved Patsy Cline. He had a cassette of her songs and once I got ahold of it, I was hooked. It was in my stuff when we broke up and I really wanted to keep it but I don't do things like that so of course I put it in with his stuff when I was packing up the house.
This song reminds me of that one. One of the finest artists ever, and one of her greatest songs.
@Mamany1953 What a haunting song! And though horror is not a genre I care for, there are a few films that are truly scary without the graphic violence I won't watch, and "The Exorcist" will always scare me, no matter how many times I watch it -- not for the reasons most people are scared, I think but because to me, it's horrifying and scary what mental illness does to people, and I believe "being possessed" is rooted in mental illness.
A story that has always haunted me in that vein -- a true one -- is the story of Elisa Lam. Those who are interested can google her name and fall down an endless rabbit-hole. I have. She was a young Canadian girl who came down here to see L.A. and died, under circumstances extremely mysterious, at the notorious Cecil Hotel. It's a very haunting story.
tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 - Bonny Raitt's is really something, isn't she? Still going strong after almost forty years in the business.

This one's for you - it was my Dad's favourite Patsy Cline song. He once drove from Camp Lejeune to Nashville and then straight back afterwards, just to hear her at Tootsie's Orchid Lounge.

This one's always Pawsitive:

Oh, yeah. Bonnie Raitt and Jackson Browne are longtime buds, btw. Two of the absolute best artists ever born.
And who WOULDN'T have travelled to see Patsy Cline? Amazing voice. Pretty lady, too. Did you see "SWEET DREAMS"? Jessica Lange looks nothing like her, but IMHO she aced it. A great film. I love biopics, you might have noticed. So sad how she passed. I always think about Richie Valens passing from a plane crash, too, and how Waylon would have been on that plane if he hadn't given up his seat. Richie was from near where I grew up, and probably my older cousins would have loved him because that was the times they were probably listening to music like that. He was great, too. I loved Lou Diamond Phillips playing him in "La Bamba".

1CatOverTheLine 1CatOverTheLine what a gorgeus moon and sky photo!

I Married a Witch
'tis the season, we've gone witchie LOL

Walkin' on down that yellah brick road
every time I read that phrase "and your little dog too" I hear it in that amazing scratchy whiny voice of the Wicked Witch of the East from the movie the Wizard of Oz :)
I LOVE the phrase from that movie about her squishy death when the house landed on her;
"As coroner I must aver, I thoroughly examined her. And she's not only merely dead, she's really, most sincerely dead"
:lol2:

Positive, I am tickled pink (no reference to Olcott Beach's sunset ;) ) that I influenced Alicia88 Alicia88 regarding dessert for her household, how nice is that?

Oh crap, this is why old farts like me need to stick with silently playing checkers in parks and stay off the internet.
Sorry, everyone!
1 bruce 1 1 bruce 1 - If you go to the park, keep off that lawn!

Be a lot nicer if she'd made extra. Apple pie is the perfect dessert when you've had brownies for dinner!

I always think about Richie Valens passing from a plane crash, too, and how Waylon would have been on that plane if he hadn't given up his seat.
Richie Valens almost wasn't on the plane; he and Tommy Allsup flipped a coin for the last remaining seat. Allsup went on to arrange and play behind Roy Orbison on Pretty Woman.

1 bruce 1 1 bruce 1 --That's okay, we love your posts, I just didn't want you to get in trouble, don't you dare leave. :D

Alicia88 Alicia88 --That's wonderful news that you get to keep A. for Halloween. :)

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 --I absolutely love Biopic movies and Auto/Biographies.
Love Bonnie Raitt, Richie Valens, and the La Bamba soundtrack too.

Furballsmom Furballsmom --Uh oh, somebody oughta watch out for falling houses.

1CatOverTheLine 1CatOverTheLine --Aww, that's your best pic yet, the kitty I mean. I like that pink sunset too...I got my voter ballot, sending it out tomorrow. :)

Positive: All us grandkids just got a gift from my Grandma who died in 1989. Her grandchildren were her whole world, she had a painting with all our names on it hanging on her wall.
(Can't post a song, I keep getting an error message too)

Oh tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 i love me some Dolly Parton! But I, too, have been getting an error message. Ira kinda fun to try to guess the songs from context clues, though!

My PAWSITIVE tonight is that little miss Lucy decided it was time to come out from her hiding spot under the blankets and explore some. To be fair, she came out on Monday at first, but the sound of our plaster ceiling crashing down into the living room below us sent her running. She burrowed into the sheets so fiercely that she popped our air mattress. Then she stayed inside if a pillowcase (with the pillow,) the rest of the day.

We have since had to move camp into the basement, and considering that we had the ceiling collapse in our new home on the third day, we are in pretty good spirits. For starters, nobody was hurt, and we are hoping that our insurance will cover the repair. I'm a little wistful about the plaster being gone, and replaced with drywall, but it had to happen sometime I guess. It just happened to be it's time I guess!

So, after only a couple of days of basement living, my brave girl poked her head out and faced that mean ol ceiling fan. I'm worried she'll have the same reaction to every room, (the previous owners put ceiling fans in every room including the kitchen and dining room,) until we can redecorate. To their credit, the previous owners also offered to pay our insurance deductible for the repairs, so I can't say anything too bad about them.

Here's how Lucy spent most of the weekend:

And here she is, marking her new territory by using her favorite scratching post:
