Have you hiked the Mount Flora Trail?
Thank you 1CatOverTheLine 1CatOverTheLine and tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 !

Although I've done some hiking "up there" I have not been on that trail. A relative of mine has done a LOT of hiking and horseback riding all over up there (lucky woman)!! I guess it's seriously windy on top of Mt Flora!

There is also another wonderful spot for wildflowers just west of Crested Butte Colorado :) Here's one below from Rocky Mountain National Park, that's a slightly different nature  (I love bad puns LOL)

Of the flowers I'm planning to add next spring, I definitely will be putting in more California Poppy plants :daisy: :reddragonfly:

Maybe even for a gingerbread castle.
woop woop, tis the season

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 - I may not lose as much as I want, but I'm hoping for at least a few pounds. A couple of my measurements went down a hair (my arms were one, thankfully, but not my thighs unfortunately). So that's a step in the right direction!

Lelia came and joined me in bed last night, possibly because it was a bit chilly. I can't complain. I've missed that.

@PushPurrCatPaws We used to make gingerbread houses in home ec class back in HS. Those were a lot of fun to make. I love soft gingerbread. Yum. These gingerbread whoopie pies would do the trick right about now.

Gingerbread Whoopie Pies

This is a great song featuring two brilliant talents. The video is a bit on the long side but worth watching. Especially for the beginning part before the song starts.

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 - The photos of the high meadows along the six mile trail look like this place would be right up your alley:

For many years, Three Sisters Island just above Niagara Falls was primarily a broad, paved walking path, as an adjunct to the Goat Island Trail, and I ran there in the evenings for the more than twenty years that I lived in the city. These days, the Niagara Parks Commission has removed nearly all of the asphalt, save for a small central loop, and has allowed the island to become naturalised once more as it was some sixty years ago. Now and then, civilisation does something right:

M maggiedemi - We'll have to stretch back a little to find those wildwood flowers these days:

Beautiful photos! That first one looks like it could be in the Swiss Alps. Here are some of last year's Superbloom in various locations around SoCali:

neely neely --Carleton is so fluffy! More of him to love.

Kat0121 Kat0121 --I love Phil Collins & Genesis too. I'll put my favorite Genesis song below.

1CatOverTheLine 1CatOverTheLine --I've been meaning to look up the Carter Family, but never got around to it. I love the lyrics, almost like a poem. :)

Positive funny story: I heard my dad in the other room trying to use my voice commands on the cats, like "Hurry, Hurry." It was so hilarious! They aren't used to anybody but me doing that, so they weren't really listening to him until I told him to put more excitement in his voice. Then it worked! They started to obey him and he was so happy that it actually worked!

M maggiedemi the song is traditional. You might be familiar with the name, June Carter -- she's the little one who isn't singing in the video, and she became Mrs. Johnny Cash.
neely neely that is one FINE feline!
Here's a video by the not-so-wildly-popular founding member of Genesis; I've always found this song very mysterious and disturbing. Now, reading the threads on YouTube, I know why. A great song and video by a truly great artist, one of the most innovative in popular music:

M maggiedemi - Yep, @tarasgorl06 has it right - the original poem - I'll Twine 'Mid The Ringlets - was written in the late 1850s by J. William Van Namee, under the pseudonym 'Maud Irving' and published in 1860, after which it was set to music by Joseph Philbrick Webster (the author of "In the Sweet By and By"):

The Mystery of Maud Irving

Here's a take on the real deal:

Extra positive: I actually got everything done today which I set out to do in the yard!

The day's winding down here - my 600th day as a member of TCS - and I have to say that I can't think of any finer bunch of people I've ever met, not any finer place I can think of to have spent those six hundred days.

My hat's off to each and every one of you. Then again, I don't actually wear hats, so....

;)

Tonight's somewhat spooky, pre-Hallowe'en sunset here on Lake Ontario's south shore:

1CatOverTheLine 1CatOverTheLine --No wonder it sounded like a poem, it was originally. I really like that poem Gentle Words Fall On The Heart in the link you posted.
Happy 600th! I don't wear hats either, except in the winter. :)

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 --Yeah, I figured that was June Carter, I was disappointed that she wasn't singing. I'll look for some later with her singing.

Kat0121 Kat0121 --Here's my favorite Phil Collins solo song below.

Positive: I finally got Demi in from the garage after chasing him around and around in circles. I can hear him in the other room running and jumping into a pile of packing papers. :headshake: :)

Please bear with me, there is a mega pawsitive here - I met a group of college friends for lunch downtown yesterday. Unfortunately I got sick during the middle of the night. :barfgreen: The weather is rainy and dreary so I'm pampering myself today and taking it easy. The positive in all this is that I have someone cute and fluffy resting on my lap making the most adorable squeaky noises. Cats definitely are the best company of all! :heartshape:

R raysmyheart --Thanks for the list. I still don't have all of the famous eleven's names memorized yet. :)

Shane Kent Shane Kent --It sure does look like Bright. Hope you have a relaxing Sunday at the cottage.

neely neely --Feel better soon!

Positive: I was just thinking about George Strait. We haven't posted any of his music yet. He had so many hits you would have to get a boxed set to get them all. This was one of the first songs of his I ever heard, very fun.
Jcatbird Jcatbird --You will love this song.

Check Yes or No by George Strait:

Oh oh, :bliss: I meant to tell you!!….

Terry Bradshaw, while announcing a National Football League game --somewhere around New England, I believe (keep in mind that pretty-much darn-near every word they utter is scripted) , used the phrase " waning Harvest Moon " :lol2:
-------------------
:cold: yeah. no, SO not talking about the Rockies today. :disappointed: :sigh:

M maggiedemi , how's your exercise going?

@Norachan, are you and the kitties, and everyone there, ok?

My positive is that it's a grey misty day today which is great for the trees and the grass even though things are starting to think about dormancy.

Furballsmom Furballsmom --Oh man, we're not gonna start the corn/harvest moon debate again are we? :nono: Well...The exercise kinda got postponed. The well went dry and I can't wash my workout clothes until it rains. Hopefully soon.

1CatOverTheLine 1CatOverTheLine --I'm convinced that wearing hats all the time causes baldness. Just look under a barrel outside, no grass grows underneath it. Now look at guys who wear hats constantly. Bald right in that area. Common sense.

Shane Kent Shane Kent --The hugging cats are my favorite. Plus the real cat in the first pic.

I can't think of another positive, so here's a poem I wrote when I was a teenager. Hope you enjoy it. I was quite dramatic as a teen. :)

Pieces
I could hear your footsteps
but could not turn my head,
your heart called out to me
but I know not what it said.

I was drowning
while you stood there on dry land,
I couldn't find the lifeline
until you became my hands.

You reached down inside me
and you touched my broken soul,
when you put me back together
your pieces made me whole.

You have become my eyes
when there is no light to see,
and when you take my hand
mine holds all I need.

We don't need Shakespeare
or Let Me Count The Ways,
just hold me in your arms
and promise that you'll stay.

Thanks all for the Happy Six Hundreds (doubtless Lords Tennyson and Cardigan are now spinning in their respective graves), and happy Last Day to all! It's simply gorgeous here today, though just a bit chilly - a perfect day for a walk 'round to greet the birds and all God's creatures.

The leaves are still glued on pretty well, and the trees are beginning to colour up across the whole of the property. Even the Burning Bushes are beginning to slowly gather their Autumn hues. One of the newer Maples, just a few very pawsitive minutes ago:
