Lari Lari --You could probably post about it in the What's on Your Mind Thread. We don't mind, sometimes it helps to share stuff like that.
1CatOverTheLine 1CatOverTheLine --For some reason I got the desire to read children's books again a few years ago, so I bought a big box of them. But I never had time to read them, so they are just sitting there! I never heard of that one about the horse, I'll have to look for it at the library.
My positive for the day is, my best pal on the site just sent me another care package of cookbooks and romance novels. I haven't opened it yet, but I know there is one about cooking with wine that I'm really excited about! I hope you guys aren't getting sick of hearing about my care packages.

We could never do that, M maggiedemi ! People showing kindness to others -- does that ever get "tiresome"? Not here, it doesn't! I hear of, and see, so much to the contrary that I practically celebrate every time someone follows his or her better nature.
FYI, I love many genres, including some kids' books, of which I have several. I also have a few books I READ as a kid which weren't really FOR kids, but I was a voracious reader then, and these are lifelong favorites. Among my beloved kids' books is KOKO'S KITTEN and quite a few of those big picture books on cats, kittens, and other species.

Since our slow-moving storm front moved in yesterday afternoon, we're (finally) had more than an inch of rainfall at one stretch. The sun is shining brightly now (shining with all his might - with apologies to both the Walrus and the Carpenter), and the rain continues to fall, with rainbows at either end of the sky!

I haven't gotten any rainbows yet this season shining over the eastern plains, HOWEVER I just discovered that the larkspur, although appearing to be battling the fire blight that is officially attacking fruit trees et al all over town, is actually putting out some new blossoms !!

M maggiedemi - The company I work for switched the signs from Corel Centre to Scotiabank Place. Then from Scotiabank Place to Canadian Tire Centre. I have been up in the rafters on the catwalk there several times. As well as on the roof several times. I live 15 minutes from it and work about 5 minutes from it.

The following photo was taken by a co-worker February this year. The scaffold holding the truck up is from our company.

Of course that is not as cute as a Portugal Cat.

From the new flea market. It is a flea market with thrift store prices:) Was open on the holiday Monday, I guess to get the cottagers heading home. The only thing better than sharing such beautiful pieces of art on this thread will be to give some of it away to friends. Not to mention how nice the display cases I get the flowered cats into will look.

M maggiedemi - I did think about it, or reaching out and pming someone (though I wasn't sure who). I might still go over there and say something. We'll see.

Here's an old routine that's been missing a while - I think the first time in the new place.

At least until I scared her off the footstool by blowing my nose (because my weirdo is okay with the vacuum, but scared by that). I've missed our ANW dates.

That's some pretty impressive scaffolding, Shane Kent Shane Kent .
And that's a gorgeous little flowered cat! I have a couple that are similar -- one has flowers, and the other is all white but has a similar facial expression.

Shane Kent Shane Kent ---That's so cool that you worked on the Canadian Tire Centre and live that close! Thanks for the pic, it's fun seeing it again...If I lived closer, I would still go to every concert, but it costs a fortune for gas to drive there now. Plus I need a passport to go over the border now, and I don't have one. I love your new kitty figurine, pretty eyes & flowers!
My positive for this post is exactly that- I got to see your photo of the Corel Centre/Canadian Tire Centre, it brings back wonderful memories of summer nights spent listening to my favorite bands/singers. Oh, and eating at the Hard Rock Café next door. Is that still there?

Mooch is feeling better this morning! :hearthrob: She has some routine tummy troubles that had her hiding in my closet all day yesterday and through the night. I could tell she was starting to feel better yesterday evening; but not ready to leave the top of the bucket she was curled up on. This morning I brought her a bowl of water and she sat up and started chatting. Right now she is laying on her cardboard scratcher on the floor. Her normal spot is her chair. I don't know if shes just not wanting to climb or something else; but she is alert and just looks much more comfortable! :clap2::cheerleader::clap2: And she was begging so you know that's a good sign.

...with the cats...
my positive for today is that our little DeeDee has turned the corner, and is starting to feel much better from her upper respiratory infection! :yess: she's snuggling with me again, has done some sunbathing on the window sill, and is currently curled up napping in the cubby of a cat tree. :D

our Dude and Punky have been sneezing yesterday evening and today, but have also been given double their daily doses of lysine for 2 1/2 days so far, so i'm hopeful that they'll both experience milder symptoms. :crossfingers:

The Care and Feeding, and Care, of a Feline, from Poppy-cat aka the Big Fella to Bumbling Human aka Mom

First of all, when you wake me from a nap that I haven't finished yet, you can be 100% assured I WILL finish said nap, even if it means walking across the house, across the deck, across the yard and into the wildflower bed. If that means you have to find a lawn chair to add extra shade, then of course, that's what happens.

Letter Number 1: Dear Bumbling Human - The next time I am poking around the wildflower bed instead of napping, you need to pay attention. I am very strong but not strong enough to break four stringy strands of Creeping Jenny vine that got in front of my head plus one strand that got behind my head. So, I sat, and waited. 15 whole entire LONG minutes later you figured it out and I yelled at you for being SO SLOW!!!

Letter Number 2: Dear Bumbling Human - I do try to get by the legs, really I do. However I AM going to chase and eat grasshoppers. If the bottom portion of a leg gets stuck, it WILL come out the way it went in. At 1:30 in the morning. With a little extra color so that waiting until actual morning is NOT an option.

Letter Number 3: Dear Bumbling Human - thanks mom :cloud9:

 I hope this brings a smile to you-all.

Kind of hard to be PAWSitive after reading of the loss of so many precious ones. But they were, and are, and will always be, loved, which is PAWSitive.
My gardeners chopped down my two ailing camellias in the front this morning. They had been so burned by the intense heat we've had that I thought they might be gone, but there were a few greenish leaves still on them. I would have stopped my gardeners had I known, but I didn't. So it's done, and they're history. I'm sad about this, but happy that my folks and I had the joy of them for the time we did.
We are going to have another very hot day according to the forecast, but then it will start getting a tiny bit cooler day by day, again according to the forecast, which I hope is correct.
We are here, together, and well, which is all PAWSitive. TCS is here, too, which is VERY PAWSitive. ;):winkcat:

There really have been a lot lately, haven't there? A positive is that they can come here and talk to people that truly understand their loss when some in real life may not.

AbbysMom AbbysMom - This is, by far, the most supportive community I've ever seen - and especially when a member loses a Family member - two-legged or four-legged. The folks on TCS - and especially the "regulars" here, who have made real Friends over the years - are a breed apart from the rest of society.

Our rain continued overnight, with rain predicted for Friday, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday this next week, and with the lower overnight temperatures (back into the fifties tomorrow night!), nearly everything which had settled into dormancy has begun to revive, and greens once again dominate the landscape across the lawns and into the woods. I don't believe I've ever seen the songbird and butterfly population so dense and so varied as this year, despite the hot dry Summer. Nature always seems to manage to prevail in the end.

I agree, and whether you're an extrovert or an introvert, it is positive that there will be so many here at TCS that can understand the anguish of losing a beloved cat. The support is amazing.
