Help! My Boyfriend Gets Toast On My Cat!

We just adopted Olive, and I keep getting morning texts from my boyfriend that she has been covered in toast crumbs! He eats breakfast while she sits on his lap and gets toast crumbs in her fur. I know cats should have a low carb diet, and this will definitely increase her carb intake ... like by at least 0.5 grams over a month. Or something.

Low-carb bread won't work, but how can I train my boyfriend to eat with less crumbs! I really don't want to rehome him if I can help it. I'm worried he is too old for another girlfriend to adopt him.

Aww it's not going to hurt her..my girl LOVES crackers. I try to limit it to one cracker once a week but she makes a pest of herself until I give in-so usually I have to eat them when she's in another room.

Have the boyfriend move her out of his lap? Since you just adopted her-maybe this will stop in a few days..probably just happy to be adopted!

I am actually mostly amused by the whole situation. She doesn't seem bothered by the crumbs and I know it won't hurt her. She seems really fascinated by my Ritz crackers. I let her have a little nibble and she seemed pretty excited lol.

We have had her for about 5 months now. I think she's a permanent lap kitty. I'll just have to get used to her smelling like toast.

you know what makes Bee nuts?? Cheese cracker sandwiches-those bright orange cracker sandwiches?? LOL She will come up and take them out of my hand-so I crumble one up for her..she LOVES them.


Cheezits. Ritz are her favorite. She licks the salt off them-which I don't give her often LOL but it's so funny to see her eat people food.

One day I got her to take a lick of this tomato spicy sauce I was eating-you should have seen her wrinkle her nose just like a child when she took a taste of it-I told her not to touch it-but nope she wanted a bite-then ran off-I gave her a piece of cheese after to make up to her lol. She's my little garbage disposal....

Just don't try to train this habit away by hitting him on the head with a rolled up newspaper. He'll grab it away and read it as the perfect start to his morning toast habit.
Maybe you could consult a behaviorist!
