I am loving this food conversation. As much as I love eating, you wouldn't think I'd have any trouble gaining weight. Still, I'm sitting at a 7 lb weight gain at 35 weeks pregnant. Today my doctor told me I should buy a bunch of my favorite ice cream and start making milk shakes every day. How many times does a doctor "prescribe" ice cream? Lol

It has been snowing all day in Ottawa and now we have a thick blanket of snow on the ground. It is supposed to snow all night so it will be an evening of watching movies and cuddling with cats on the couch.

I am not sure about Upper New York state but in Eastern Ontario the wildlife has bounced back a lot over the past twenty years. I never saw a wild turkeys when I was a kid and now I see them at work, at the cottage, in farm fields, etc. I am a big fan of Mother Nature and all that she does :)

The rules -1. Positive posts only. Tell us something nice about your day or about the world in general. Forget neutral - spread the joy! If you feel like ranting or venting about something that's, well, not as positive, start a separate thread for that please. If you get confused and post something we don't think is positive, it could end up deleted or moved to its own thread.

You can add neutral content to a positive post (for example, if you have a question about this fundraiser or if you want to respond to a previous post in a neutral way) but please avoid negativity so we don't have to edit it out.

2. Minimum of 15 words per post. Just posting "good morning!" won't qualify for the purpose of this thread and will be deleted. Keep your posts long enough and meaningful. The only exception is sharing a page from TCS on social media - in which case a link to the share is enough.

3. Proper English. Please don't just hit randomly at your keyboard. No gibberish allowed and as with other posts on the site, try to avoid texting abbreviations.

4. Comprehensible posts. Your posts need to make sense. Avoid using automated text generators. It's a babbling thread by nature, but we still expect you to communicate with your fellow members.

5.Original posts only. Please do not copy and paste text from another source. Not even from this site. Not even if you were the author. Just write something fresh for each post in this thread.

6. No consecutive posts. You can't add a reply if yours is the last post in the thread. If anyone starts talking to themselves to speed things up, they risk getting banned from this thread.
Another reminder of the rules.

Even after 4 1/2 years, I still marvel at how good Mowgli is about getting his claws clipped. He doesn't even have to be offered a treat for allowing it.

Honeybee on my lap, music playing in background
@Shane Kent - Alicia88 Alicia88 has been making me hungry ever since she started all that "roast" talk, and I suspect that you can add mightyboosh mightyboosh to that list as well (and probably foxxycat foxxycat too). Just stay up there in the Frozen North - I've got a roast duck planned for Christmas Eve, and you wouldn't like it at all.
.
We will be over 1CatOverTheLine 1CatOverTheLine Honeybee says she wants her duck raw. She doesn't like cooked meat. LOL. A positive- umm truck was covered in a sheet of 3/4" ice and managed to get most of it off the windshield and wipers without freezing my hands. I couldn't get my doors open but well placed whacks of the ice scrapper cut through that junk no problem. I almost ripped the door handles off! But I didn't!
That's my positive.

I’ve decided to try becoming a vegetarian, although I am calling it temporary. I don’t think I can go without turkey or pigs in blankets on Christmas Day.
There are enough fellow vegetarians on the forum to help give you any support, tips or advice if needed including myself. So please feel free to ask whether in a private message or here: Foodie's Corner
And to further make this a pawsitive post, here's to a happy and healthy New Year!

About three months in to my diet and I have lost 27lbs! I feel great and I finally am able to start seeing my results! New year and new me and all that...

Yaaaas girl! All of that running around working with your ferals is helping that too! I have struggled with my weight for the better part of my life. Getting down on the floor with these kittens and the walks we have been taking to get “dog time” in have really made a difference. I don’t know pounds because the scale has long been removed in place of kitty stuffs but this is good for them and us!

It has been in the 50's and 60's, here in Nebraska! Just about unheard of, but what a wonderful present for all the ferals and strays, they at least don't have to be so cold. 40 MPH winds too, today, but I'll take it to have the wonderful weather. I spent yesterday getting the overwintering weeds, a head start for spring.

Ashouldnt Ashouldnt (and, no doubt, @Shane Kent foxxycat foxxycat mightyboosh mightyboosh et al) - I like Pigs In Blankets on Christmas day too, but with a little extra effort, you can have Snakes In A Drainpipe! Just pre-cook sausage links, and a couple of slices of bacon per sausage right in the same pan, braise a center cut ham slice in a second pan, and when everything's ready, drop the ham onto a pancake, wrap the sausages in bacon, plop them on the ham slice, and roll it up. Voilà - Snakes In A Drainpipe!

Anyone who thinks that this isn't a positive post must hate breakfast!

Luciano played with his first plastic springs yesterday. A friend from work brought them in as a gift for him & he LOVES them! I should have known since they behave like his first favorite, the aluminum foil ball. They skitter around the floor & he was picking them up with his paw/claw and placing them into an empty cat food can box to start a new session. The way I knew they were new favorites is that he picked them up in his mouth & trotted to the bedroom, head and tail held high, & jumped on the bed with them. He rolls around on the duvet playing with them.
