It is an uneasy sort of night
I see stars, but oh!
This night feels stormy.
A vicious little wind
Gusts hard,
muttering imprecations
as it kicks the fallen leaves
across the yard and down the drive.
The leave rise up in aggitation,
whirling in a frenzied dance,
then spin away, running before that wind.
No living thing is out tonight
No car upon the road
Not one cat prowls
There is only me, and
the ghosts of yesterdays,
and the wind...
the wind...
the wind...
It is an uneasy sort of night

Marcy gave me a bit of a scare this morning. The boys were all hanging out, but she was nowhere to be found. I searched everywhere but the bedroom because John is still sleeping and started to get slightly panicky. I was afraid she'd slipped out at midnight when John came home and spent the night in the cold hallway - or worse, had made it all the way outside. She's never tried to get out, but there's a first time for everything. I decided to try the bedroom, even though she rarely goes in there and I saw her little gray head pop up from under the bed. These cats are gonna be the death of me. So now I'm sitting here trying to quietly occupy myself while everyone else sleeps. I guess Aislyn must be pretty worn out because she's still sound asleep, too. Like father, like daughter. And there's me. For some reason, I can't seem to sleep past 9 or 10 anymore. Very recent development - as in, the last week or so. I don't like it! LOL

I just found a flea. So, we need to treat again. I found a 6 pack of advantage ii on Amazon for $55. It's for cats 9 lbs and over. That's what we get for the boys, but Marcy isn't quite 9 lbs. I just weighed her. Well, I weighed myself then picked her up and weighed myself again. She's around 8 pounds. Would it still be ok to use the 9 lb meds?
  1. That's how vets always used to weigh cats.
  2. I seriously doubt that it's safe to use the 9 lb meds for an 8 lb cat.

Oh my goodness, pregnancy makes everything so much harder! I just gave Aislyn a bath and bending over the bathtub is not an easy feat with a beach ball attached to my front. Now I'm tired. I think I'm gonna try for a nap before John goes to work or I may not make it through the rest of the day.

So my husband has won the latest battle in the marital war and his cat is a pervert.

My husband took the clean laundry hamper with him when he went to a convention a couple weeks ago. I think he was transporting alcohol in it. Anyway, he didn't tell me, I just found it gone. So I took the dirty clothes hamper out of our bedroom to use for clean clothes. He's a neat freak so I figure the dirty clothes in a pile on the floor would drive him bonkers enough to give me back my hamper. It hasn't worked yet.

His cat loves to steal clothing and put them on the bed. Usually one particular pair of my daughter's shorts and all my husband's clean socks, but every now and then he steals something else. It's quite an adventure to find out what's on the bed this time every time I walk into the bedroom. And today he took two of my dirty underwear out of the pile on the floor. Really cat? My dirty underwear?

I give up on waiting for my husband to be driven nuts enough to give me back the hamper. I'm getting a new one.

Tomorrow is my monthly shopping trip. It's always a bit of an ordeal, mostly because I have to remember to buy EVERYTHING I might need for the coming month. As you can imagine, this requires not one, but TWO, shopping lists. One for non-food items, and one for food items, mainly because they are separate items on my budget. And the list is LONG this month! Arg!

Interesting factoid...a neutered male cat is a gib. Several sources say that a neutered female is a Molly, but I don't plan to tell Hekitty that. She knows for a fact that she is a QUEEN!

I like the terms "tom" and "queen" better so I'm just gonna keep using those, whether they're right or not. Lol
I woke up from my nap with a bit of a headache. I really hope it doesn't try to become a migraine. I'm debating on whether or not I should make some coffee to head it off before it gets any ideas.

I saw the blond kitty again today. The one who I am thinking is my long lost Bob Hoopla.
Now I am certain it is him. He has a scar that only I would notice from when he was hit by a car and his leg was broken, this cat has it.

That's good, he's alive. Will you be able to catch him?

I go grocery shopping every two weeks. I can't imagine doing it once a month. Do you have a car? I have a lawn cart thing I use to bring my groceries from my car into my house. Everyone laughs at me but I need it for the heavy stuff.

I think he would have knocked on the door if there hadn't been so many new faces outside. He responds to his name but there is another Tom in control of the territory. Given time I think he will walk right up to me.

A new hamper or a new husband?

Me too. I don't like to play favorites but Bob and I had a special relationship. When he disappeared I was upset but I know it happens with cats who live outside. Bob loved outside and I would not take that away from him for anything. Even now i only want to get him neutered and vaccinated. He would probably enjoy being inside when the weather gets nasty but I know he prefers outside. I won't force him to live indoors.

I go grocery shopping every two weeks. I can't imagine doing it once a month. Do you have a car? I have a lawn cart thing I use to bring my groceries from my car into my house. Everyone laughs at me but I need it for the heavy stuff.

Around here most people have a cart to haul groceries, laundry, cat litter bags, dog food bags, anything heavy. I also use it to haul my recyclables to the blue bin in the garage where the dumpster is.They look similar to a store's grocery cart but without a child seat. They fold up flat. I live in a 3 story building with an underground garage and I hate shopping. So I buy like $200.00 worth of groceries at a time. Although there is an elevator and I live on the second floor I certainly would not want to go up and down 10 times to haul all those groceries in my arms. So the cart it is. Nobody would laugh here. I also see in other places where people don't have cars that people take their carts to the grocery store when they go shopping. This is like "doggy bags" people used to ask for in restaurants pretending that they were taking their leftovers to their dog. Now it is expected that one asks for a box and it is NOT for the dog. Carts are the same, no stigma on that, why wreck your back when you can wheel your stuff?
