I started my 17 year old calico, Shuffles, on L-Lysine about one month ago. She's been to the vet for some pink eye discharge. They gave us a medication, had us apply it for one week, but the day after it came right back. I'm not positive what's causing it, but it's basically just chronic pink eye discharge. Worse sometimes, better others, though it rarely seems to go away entirely. So I browsed around and after research decided to try l-lysine. It seemed to work really well... until she slowly stopped eating it (mixed with wet food, 2x day). Now she won't eat her food at all if it's in there. I tried making homemade pureed chicken liver/heart "treats" to make it more appealing, but she didn't take the bait.
So when looking for alternatives, I found bovine lactoferrin. I looked on Amazon.de (I'm located in Germany) and the only powder form was this (don't worry, the info is all on the package photos in English):
Is this the same thing?
Any advice or suggestions are welcome.
