Hi I am new here and I have a Tuxedo cat who is 10 years old and I have had him since he was 8 weeks old. Here is my situation.
It started Monday night on Oct 12,2015. He vomiting one time, but was fine afterwards. It was mostly a hairball. He Played, slept, ate, peed, pooped and completely normal, afterwards. However Tuesday night Oct 13,2015 he vomited in the late evening, after eating his dry cat food, no hairball, but there was white clear vomit at the end, which he seemed to gag on. Afterwards he was not bouncing back to normal. He went behind the couch, like normal and slept several hours until I moved the curtain and he came out. I tried to put him in my lap, but he didn't want that, he moved to the other end of the couch and slept there all night, didn't get up to eat or anything throughout the night. Weds Oct 14,2015 came around and I got up to use the restroom and he got up and went into the bathroom with me, which he usually does. I put down some canned cat food, which is his favorite, and he didn't touch it. He walked away from it. He wouldn't drink at all. Later in the day I scooped out the moist food in his dish and put some more in there, and this time he actually ate a little, went to his litter box, peed in litter box, then went and laid back down in the window sill with the window opened, which I thought was a good sign. Well I took a nap and upon wakening, I had found he had eaten the rest of the moist cat food in his dish. However, he stopped drinking all together. Later in the evening, I started watching him more and more, occasionally he meowed at me, but it was a weak meow, like his throat was dry or something. So I got another dish of water and brought it out to the front room for him, to see if he would drink. Nope, he didn't. I researched online on what to do and found to put water in his moist cat food, so I tried that and amazingly, he actually drank all the water broth I had put in his moist cat food, then he went into his bed and laid down. I let him sleep for a while, but I noticed he is also not bathing himself either. He only cleaned the bottom of his foot and that was it. A bit later, he woke up and I took his favorite toy and tried to play with him, and earlier he didn't want to play, but then he played with it for a little bit while he was in his cat bed. He got out of his bed, drank a little out of his water bowl, then went upstairs and slept. When he came back down, he started rubbing on everything, which he had also stopped doing from Tuesday till about 2:15am this morning Oct 15,2015. He went to look at the water bowl, and walked away from it. I asked if he wanted some "canned cat food" and he meowed at me a little, all the while, rubbing himself against me, the coffee table, fan, laptop, my legs etc until I picked him up and put him on my lap. He stayed on my lap for a little bit this time, actually gave me a little love bite or 2 then he jumped back to the window sill with window opened, and when I got up to get him some moist cat food (although he had only eaten the broth eariler) I scooped out the food he had in his dish, put new canned cat food in his dish, put more water in his food dish with the moist cat food and he drank all the broth again, and has only drank from his water dish once since he got real sick on Tuesday night, but again, only vomiting once. He has peed twice today, no poo though, today.
My concern is him not eating much and not drinking much, but little things tell me he is starting to feel a bit better, but not much. I am wondering if I should call vet in the morning if he still doesn't want to eat much or drink much? Or what should I do?
I love him so much and it is hurting me and has made me cry to see him like this. I am so worried. Any suggestions? I am on a fixed income due to my disabilities and don't have very much to take him to the vet, and most of themn here in Springfield are so expensive!!! Any suggestions would really help alot! Please???
Thank you in advanced:
