I need a new pair of walking sneakers. The toe next to my big toe on my left foot seems to be cramming itself into the tip of the shoe and it hurts. In fairness, these shoes are about 18 months old, so it's way past time for new shoes. I do this all the time; wait way too long for new shoes. The ones I have now are Brooks Dyad 7: http://www.marathonsports.com/produ...t=1049328577&gclid=CMzy75mRjcgCFYgYHwodTqsDTg They're OK, they used to be really comfortable. but not so much anymore, esp in the toe area on both feet, although my left foot seems to be worse than my right foot as far as the discomfort. I think my feet have widened out a bit with age as well as gotten a bit longer. Last time I went in for new sneakers, the guy told me that I wait entirely too long for new ones, that I should be buying new walking sneakers about every 500-600 miles.
I like the Brooks Dyad shoes and this is actually my second pair. But they're dull. I want something with funky colors for a change. My last pair was grey and teal. These are a grey with yellow. I don't really want all-white because I walk in snow and they'll get ugly quickly. But there has to be something better than grey! I want color.
I'm thinking about going back to Nike. Years ago, I had a pair of Nike Pegasus that I just loved and am still wearing to mow grass and garden. So comfortable and easy to walk in. But then I started having leg problems, so I figured I'd best get measured properly and get a good pair of shoes. That's how I ended up with Brooks. I do like the fit....but hate the colors. No New Balance shoes, I have a pair in the closet and every single time I wear those things, I end up falling flat on my face. I don't know why, but the toes tend to dig in and I fall. I wear walking sneakers only for walking. I don't wear them to the mall or for shopping or gardening or anything else. They are strictly for walking.
So....all you walkers, what shoes are you wearing right now? And do you like them? What would you recommend?
