He became a little more active last night, but this morning he is lethargic again. Still not eating and only lying on one side.... he tries to turn with great difficulty.
I am so glad YOU knew something was still wrong with him and took him to be seen again. Let's hope it was this infection all along rather than a stroke, and that he'll be 100% back to normal once the antibiotics kick in.They even took his temperature and it was normal... unless they did it the wrong way? Anyway it was a different vet today at my local animal hospital. Thank God I took him in again. I miss him so much right now and hope he feels much better tomorrow.
I have actually never heard of a stroke causing prolonged paralysis in a cat (not like it does in people). Does she have the other symptoms (uneven pupils, etc.) I would definitely think your Vet would have already checked this out if he thought it were a possibility. I read in another thread where you posted you had used Advantage from Walmart. You mentioned this to the Vet Tech and they said this could cause seizures. Did you actually discuss this with the VET?For 1/2hr. He didn't offer much. He wants to do MRI $3000, and still might not show problem. We just spent $4000 in april and then $500+ 4 weeks ago from the death of two other fur babies. We are tapped out. I am heartbroken and an emotional wreck. When I read this blog it sounds like fuzzy might have had a stroke. My vet has her on an antibiotic and of course the coquin, she did a feline leuk-neg wants to continue laser and antibiotic, but stop steroids. Please can someone advice--i am wore out emotionally and physically. Have my own health issues as well!!!
Yay! So glad for you and Mr. MotGood news. My furbaby Mr Mot is back home and doing much better. No signs of a stroke any more. Please people... follow your gut feeling. You know your baby best!
Wow! You must be doing something right to still have Buffy at 26 years! Congrats.
My cat is a 26 year old tabby cat which I took over for my mom God Bless her when she went into a nursing home .I had the cat checked at the vets because she was losing weight. Found she was Diabetic. She was put on Diabetic special food which you can only buy from a vet place.. Name I use is PURINA Proplan Veterinary Diets 5.5oz can DM DieteticManagement. There is the Dry & the Wet.The dry is bagged. 6 or 10 lb. Had a exam & found her blood sugar was way off. Started her on the Diabetic food wet & dry & Insulin. She is now doing fine for her old age but starting to drink an over excess of what she was drinking. It has been 6 years now treating her with those things & up until 4 months ago was fine.Until One day she acted out of sorts .All of a sudden she trembled - walked side ways - & kind of fell while she laid It was like she stared of into space - body was jumping like spasms - then her head tipped to one side & froze there. I tried to comfort her by lightly patting her - talk to her softly- love her & tell her I was there & it was O K.. Her body would stop jerking then quickly start again. My self not seeing this before thought I was going to loose her .I called a neighbor who told me she would take me to a vet. The cats Name Buffy) was like that for about 20 minutes. Than she got up still not having correct balance walked sideways for a short hallway length & got to the bedroom & jumped up on the bed. I was in shock my self to see this.It was like she was determined to get up & go where she wanted to be. Of course it made me happy . So I called a vet & we took her there . She was checked & given a shot .of something to correct what had happened. The Vet called it a seizure . But when her head was cocked to one side I thought sure it was a stroke .Praise the Lord she is fine & has been since that.time.We love her dearly. I don't know if this explanation of what happened to her will be of help to you people who have cats who are diabetic.but remember no two animals may act the same. She also is getting a bit lame.now.but I guess she really deserves that After trying to give her a good loving home & the life she has led she deserves a award. at 26 years old. God Bless you Buffy.
I've been reading your posts but I'm afraid I don't know how to help. If you can't do anything against your husband's wishes, I don't know what to tell you. If you think she isn't getting the care she needs, can you try to persuade him to do something different?I wish I would get a response I feel so alone in this. Fuzz is still alive but like a rag doll. She can move her head some, but mostly follows me with her eyes, her hearing is intact. She had another laser 10th I think and my husband chose to do more steroids even though the vet warned him if it is cancer it with give more blood flow to the area. I see her deteriorating in spite of her strength to hang on.
