My number one reason would be to save a life but close behind would be that I wanted the companionship.
@Margd I usually just pick the last few posts to reply to. Sometimes I will go back farther if the subject is interesting. It takes me forever to read and get caught up. Plus I'm at work and I have people interrupting me...Go figure!!! How dare they!!!
With me it's more I'm constantly worried I will double post somewhere.
This babbling has had a bad influence on me. I read other posts dedicated to a specific topic and find myself wanting to babble off them.
I don't think you will have to wait very long before you can try and get some sleep @ellieandwinnie .

My one reason for having a cat would be companionship. I have had cats all my life and they make the best companions I've ever had, even better than most humans.
I'm still finding myself counting the words in other threads....I have to keep reminding myself that there isn't a 15 word limit elsewhere!
I am now afraid to go to other posts and I will remain on this thread until we've done it LOL
