He likes me to rub it, but when I comb it, he attacks the comb. Do I have to have 2 combs. One to comb his belly and one to distract him and bite on. He's a really gentle cat with a very quiet, almost kitten ish meow. He's so sweet. I have 6 cats and none of them seem to dislike a belly rub now and then. Which is great, because I love kitty bellies!

I love kitty tummies, too. They are made for rubbing. I've had cats who loved them and other cats who hated them. It was awful - I really wanted to rub those tummies when they were presented so invitingly.

The Da Bird arrived today both cats loved it.  Eclipse would not go out on his leash because he was too interested in it..  When we were done I put in on the mantle and he was on the window shelf nearby sniffing the air.  LOL  Took him outside and the toy.  He enjoyed chasing it through the grass.  Felt bad Fluffy was in the tent and wanted to play too but couldn't really catch Da Bird through the mesh.  I have two tired kitties.

I'm impressed.  It lived up to the hype.

Yes, Da Bird is just great. I'm glad to Eclipse and Fluffy like it so much. Chula and Paul go absolutely nuts over it, leaping and twisting like a pair of contortionists.

...with the cats...
i was talking with chewy dot com on the phone earlier -- just really nice people there at chewy. anyway, i learned some things about chewy and it's employees during that chat. like at the call center the employees can put in a request to bring their dog to work with them, and as long as their dog gets along with other dogs and doesn't tend to bark a lot (being that they're in the customer service/call center) they're pretty much going to be able to bring their dog to work there. that's a very nice benefit!

also, i learned a very funny 'joke' type thing for around christmas time. instead of 'bah humbug', someone there at chewy came up with 'paw humpug'..........that makes me laugh every time i hear it or say it!

Has anyone else noticed how much this thread has slowed down since we hit 1500? We must be all babbled out....and cat hung up on sleep...and real life!
I turned on the TV, wanted to know what the weather was going to be like but I never got there. There was a huge fire next to the freeway and it had jumped the freeway, cars were on fire, traffic backed up, it was just horrible. As I was watching a big rig that was next to a car carrier which was already on fire also succumbed to the flames. My son drives a big rig and I could not read the name on the side of the truck and he drives the Western states. So I called him to make sure he was nowhere near there. He wasn't, he was in Oregon, just waking up from a nap in the back of the cab, so he turned on his lap top to see this fire and if anyone he knew was in it. They weren't.   20 vehicles were destroyed but nobody died and there were only a few small injuries. This happened way out there in the dry brush and grass with wind up to 15 mph on the highway from Las Vegas to Los Angeles, so within 2 hours the burnt are went from 500 acres to 3500 acres. At this time, almost 6 hours after it started, the fire is still burning and has destroyed several buildings, the highway is closed so a lot of people will be stranded, although Highway Patrol has escorted people going the wrong way on the freeway to the next exit so that they can find an alternate route around this mess. I don't know what's happening with those whose cars were burnt up, I saw some people dragging wheeled suitcases on the freeway. How awful.
This is about 100 miles due East  from where I live as the crow flies but quite bit farther by road.

We saw that on the news too.  Do you know if they're going to try and put the fire out?  The buildings that were destroyed were homes.

I ordered some cat food from chewy.com. When it arrived the "best by" date was over a month old so I sent them an email regarding it. I did not want a refund as the food was in sealed plastic trays, and certainly good quite a while after the "best by" date, I just wanted them to know about it, that they need to rotate their stock more often. When I checked my credit card statement they had taken the charge off but they never contacted me in any other way. Pretty strange but nice of them.

I saw that on-line and on Twitter.  It's the first time I've followed something like that through twitter where you can on-going updates from several people all at the scene.  It's really a great way to get news, I think I might use Twitter more often.  But the horror of what was going on!  Just terrible. Very scary for everyone there though I heard there were no injuries.

They always try but in this case it will take a while with the wind blowing the way it does. I know it was on all 3 networks and CNN for hours. One of the local stations is still reporting on the fire with new reports in 40 minutes.

We keep having fires up in Western Washington as well. It is so unusual here. One was set by some people with road flares.
This is very unusual for SoCal also and particularly for the fire to have swept across the freeway so fast that it caught cars just going down the road. Usually one has a warning about a fire crossing the road which will then be closed to traffic, but not this time. The burnt big rig belonged to a company called "KLLM" as written on the side of the truck's trailer, 20 vehicles were destroyed, 10 more damaged and there is now a mandatory evacuation in place. The road is closed to through traffic, only those cars/trucks already in the area can go and only on one lane, otherwise tow trucks are very busy getting all the burnt vehicles out of there.

Hi, just catching up with this thread now. Those wild fires sound really scary. I'm glad no one was seriously hurt.

We have the opposite problem here: too much rain. I think there must be another typhoon heading this was. It's really windy and humid and we keep getting these heavy squalls of rain that go sideways in the wind.

Has summer been cancelled this year? Why didn't anyone tell me?

It's fun for the first couple of hours, when they just want to snuggle up to each other on the sofa. Then they start to get bored and charge around the house in a big furry herd.
