Welcome to

Smudge's Colorado Cafe

Smudge's Colorado Cafe is a place for all kitties and their friends to come hang out.

Some of our accommodations are:
  • Comfy booths where you can enjoy our cuisine

  • Bar area with a big screen tv for the tough boys and girls to watch sports. We also have a dance floor here and will have live entertainment on occasion.  A quiet room for those wanting intimate conversation or to read. The quiet area always has a warm sun spot.

  • A playroom with lots and lots of toys and stuffs to climb on

I'm Lucy and with my sisters Carly and Much, we opened the original Smudge's.  We lost our dear Much 3 years ago and the cafe shut down.  Things got busy and then my peoples adopted these terrors called Aoibhe (Eva) and Kiefer who have wreaked havoc in our lives.  But with the new forum, we thought it might be time to refresh and reopen Smudge's.  We have the wonderful Chef Emeril LeChat and a waitstaff of highly trained dogs, Dougie, Brutus and Rufus to attend to your every need.

Smudge's was named after a sweet kitty friend who was lost to us at a very young age.

Lucy and Carly! Mogli here. You can call me Mowgli, too. Or the Monster. Are Aoibhe and Kiefer going to hang out here, too? Do they play poker?

So many good things to eat.

Oh Smudge!  I love what you've done with the place!  Maybe we can set up a card table over in that corner?  Only for bridge games!  Swear!  I'll even bring a big bowl of bridge mix.

Hey Mogli, Kiefer over here.  Come sit beside me.  I've heard so much about your exploits.  Is it true that you can get your paws onto anything?  When Dougie is available, do you want to play Mouse Games with me?  I've been working on his throwing capabilities, but he still doesn't understand the fine art of picking the right mouse.

Lucy: Of course, a table can go over there for bridge or a friendly game of poker.  I'll send Dougie over to get your orders when you're ready.

Well, that's mighty accommodating of you!  I think I'm gonna like this place just fine!  But a word of caution - better keep your cabinets double-locked.  I've, um, "heard things" about Mogli....  All good of course!  Just, well, you know....

Mooch here!  I'm so glad to see this place open again!  I've needed a place to escape the furless things the servants have brought home the last few years.

They did buy Noodles and I a new couch recently; but I don't like it.  It smells weird.  I've let them know my displeasure by refusing lap time for the last few days.  I almost gave in a couple times (I mean the blankets are the same...); but I managed to stay across the room and glare at Noodles...who had no problems taking MY spot on Meowmie's lap.  She thinks the couch is awesome.  Fluffy pillow backs and all.  Traitor!

So let me go read that menu again.  I guess I should look for something cheesey to go with my whine.

Hello everyone!
Gracie here- the others are coming. They’re just too slow. I would love to reserve a large booth for six cats. We’ll probably be daily visitors. What an amazing escape from the bores of being assisted by the servants. As usual, Wallace and Gromit are being too rambunctious, Baloo doesn’t hang out with the rest of us, Bunny Rose is just such a diva (she makes us call her Miss Bunny Rose! Never!), and Pippi is taking Meowmy’s attention away from us because she’s the newbie. But I’m still Meowmy’s favorite.
I was her first princess and ever since last year she’s shown me her servile complaisance by adding special little treats in my meals. Plus, they make my aching bones feel so much better. Don’t tell the others that my bones ache, by the way. They’ll make fun of me.
Mmm, my belly is grumbling. I’m going to go read this purrfect menu again. The Organic Catnip Tea sounds like it would give me a boost!

@Kiefer I'd love to help you train Dougie to play mouse games correctly. Maybe we should take some mousies up on the rafters and toss them for him to retrieve - he might learn how to throw them properly by being on the receiving end first.

@Bee Gee What have they been saying about me? I never get fed enough, so I'm forced to forage for food in this house. It's so unfair! If the "parental units" finally got me a dog like they've been discussing, I wouldn't have to get up to all the mischief around here by myself. It's a lot of work.

I think I'm going to have two desserts.

I know, right? The servants always have to split up the food into six for the others, so obviously it's not enough for me. And then whenever I get into trouble the boys always make fun of me and say "little goody-two-shoes Gracie got into the cupboard!" Seriously!
They're the ones who do all the opening doors and rummaging through closets and cabinets. But it does  seem pretty fun... what kind of mischief do you suggest? I'm looking for something subtle and something that won't catch the servant's eye- at least for a little bit.

Do you have milk, cream or juice cartons in your house? It's really fun to bite them near the bottom. The humans don't notice until the contents have leaked out and formed a puddle, or they pick up the carton and the liquid drips out all over them. Juice doesn't taste very good, but cream is really yummy, so I make big holes in those cartons and lap it up.

You share your home with that many other cats? I'm the only cat here. I lost my first home because I fought with the other cat, and then the people at the shelter kept trying to put me with other cats or kittens, but I let them know I wasn't going to share my space or food with them. I'll be on my good behavior here at Smudge's - I just don't want another cat in my house. A dog would be okay, though.

Mogli!  All I know is what I read in the "papers".   It's okay, I am guilty of almost the same infractions at my house!  I am always into cabinets, cupboards, drawers, closets, anything I can squeeze my healthy build into!   And don't fool yourself about that dog idea.  We have TWO of the whiners, and it doesn't stop me from getting into most of the trouble around here!  Of course, it would be pretty hard to convince M&D that it was the dog who got on top of the fridge....
..... If you want to see what I mean, stop by and have a look @ BEE GEE

Noodles here.  I hope my servants realize how kind I am to them.  I leave the cabinets and containers alone.  But if it's on the counter or in a paper bag; it's fair game!  After all these years you'd THINK they would know that twice a day is not enough to maintain my gorgeous figure.  I am the queen in this house after all!

Someone please let the dogs know I'm ready to order.  I need one of those Luzees Energy Drinks so I can put in some good sprints tonight.  The servants are preparing for bed.  While I wait for it to kick in I'll go lay on the top of the couch and wrap my tail around the head of whoever is sitting there.  It's so funny when they sneeze!

Thanks for the tips Mogli! I should try that with Mom’s half-and-half carton that she just bought from the store today. It smells sooo good.

Dogs are cool- you can train them and make them do things for you! One of Meowmy’s foster dogs, a big Newfoundland- I trained him to let me sleep on his oh-so-soft fur all day. That was pretty awesome. But sometimes they can be too noisy with their incessant “woof woof” noises. If your Meowmy gets you a dog make sure to let him/her know that you are the boss of them and they MUST serve you with obedience and docility.

I used to like all of the noisy and cozy company of all of the other cats, but then Wallace and Gromit went through this weird stage where they turned all boisterous and scrappy, and Baloo just became more aloof than he was in the first place, “Miss” Bunny Rose became such a drama queen (her tail literally does figure 8s when Mom pets her- nothing to brag about, Bunny!), and Pippi started becoming Mom’s favorite. Of course, I’m still her princess, and I try to steal some lap space whenever Pippi’s on her lap.

I’ll try a Tropical Breakfast Parfait. Something sweet to start the night when the servants are so lazily sleeping.
