My Nordic Track C2000 is about eight years old, maybe older, I'm not sure. We've been through a lot together
and I've pounded down many miles on that thing. We bought an elliptical a couple of years ago when my ortho-weenie told me to use that for lower impact on my knee. I hate that elliptical; I simply hate that thing. I keep going back to the treadmill, much to Rick's dismay.
Well, the other morning, I went down to the basement and hit the treadmill. I usually start out at a low incline/speed and work my way up; that's to try to help with the impacts on the knee. And I noticed that when I hit the UP button on the incline, it jumped all the way to 10. At one shot. Hit the DOWN button, and it said 0.00, but I know better. It's stuck at 10 now. We tried to reset it last night, but nothing. It sounds like it's trying to reset, but it won't. I think the incline motor may have died.
I want to call Sears and have them come in to look at it....we bought it at Sears, but it is long out of warranty, so it's going to cost me a small fortune for any kind of repair work. Rick is against putting any money into it as it is quite old, especially for exercise equipment. Meanwhile, I'm doing two miles in the mornings with the incline at 10 (I do the rest of my walking during my lunch). That can't be good for my knee. But we keep discussing what to do and we are not agreeing at all.
There's no way we can afford a new elliptical and, to be honest, I really don't want one, if I can avoid it. I figure we can have Sears come in, take a gander at it, replace the incline motor, and I might be good to go for another 8 years or so. You never know. We paid $800 for it at the time, I think, close to it anyway. And I've used it hard.
Rick wants me to put my big-girl panties on and just deal with the elliptical once and for all. It's back in the bedroom and the tv is back there. He says, just get back there and do it. (But I really hate that thing.) And if I start using the elliptical, what about the treadmill? I'll never get it fixed.
Fix the treadmill? Go to the elliptical? Buy a treadmill? Help!
