New feral cat - is it Pauli or Paula. / It's Paula and we have kittens.

I can't believe how big Bertus is now- they look wonderful...... so happy to hear they've all settled in as one lovely little familyThanks for asking! Well, actually it is going very well. Boss has settled in and Pauli has accepted Boss. They even sleep on the bed together, though a few feet apart.
Boss was always a tough cat outside, but now he is caring for Bertus, washing him, asking to play with the other cats and generally much more easy going. It is a remarkable transformation I think.
Pauli is the smallest one now, but she controls everything. She is the most bossy one.

Thanks! Bertus is around 10/11 months. 17th of July will be his birthday. One day after this topic started.
He is a bit difficult with food and his growth kind of stagnated for a while. I tried many types of wet food, but he seems to enjoy kibble most. Though I still have to put the food in the right spot before he starts to eat. I have worked out a strategy, so it's kind of ok now.
With Bertus it is important that he stays slim/lean, because extra weight might cause problems for his hind legs.
Aww, my heart just melted! They all look so happy. Love that picture of Boss in his box, and all three of them on the couch. They undoubtedly have the best Cat Dad ever.
When it comes to Bertus, I am reminded of the advice I was given here when I was struggling (and lost the war) to transition my girl to wet food, "The very best cat food is the one your cat will actually EAT! The most nutritionally complete, balanced food in the world does no good sitting in the bowl." Just make sure, if he's hooked on kibbles, that he does get enough water.

All of my cats have their specific place they eat- 2 of them will look at me and wait if their dishes are switched as well and sometimes I think " what's up?" Before I realize I accidentally swapped dishes,lol Which is great,they know their respective place and with 5of them in the kitchen their is no food competition
Cats are most comfortable with familarity and routine..... job well done!
I knew Boss would adapt well ,quickly but am pleasantly surprised by Paulis swift and steady progress to the new surroundings -she's a special girl that little darling,she hung around the old house for a reason and had her eye on you.... I get the feeling Pauli knew exactly what she was doing,it was a match made in Heaven

Fortunately he really likes water. He even wants to drink my water by putting his face and paw in the glass.
He also is an avid hunter, so he gets some extra protein from eating insects like flies.
Thanks! She adapted quite quickly and is full of confidence now, roaming around the house. Around 5AM she usually comes to check if I am awake already, by gently sitting on the bed (without making a noise).
Awwww,I fell in love with Paulie from the first photo of her before she was Paulie " girl"- you are her hero,I'll never forget how you took care of her and her big surprise ( her litter) - from no pets to a rooster,an expectant feral,then 4 babies and also feeding Boss!!!!You are the BEST Cat Daddy!Fortunately he really likes water. Yes, it was quite something. But I am happy that Pauli took shelter with me.
And of course I am happy with all the advice and support I got from this forum. Really helped a lot! I was not even sure if it was a good idea to take Boss as well, but you convinced me!
During the first months I received photos and they told me how they were doing. But the last contact is already a few months ago. The kittens were all doing fine. I will write to them again on their birthday, the 17th of July.

Wow,a year has gone by in JULY?- Wholly Moley time flies- It would be interesting to see the size of Bertus' siblings,he was the littlest one ,wasn't he?

Half a year ago I already start preparing by giving him meals near the carrier. Just in case I would have the possibility to take him.
Well, the first weeks he was by far the biggest. But when the other kittens started eating kibble he stubbornly only wanted milk from Pauli. I actually had to buy special food so he would gain some weight. His little sister was always the smallest one. From what I have heard his brothers have become quite big boys.
