Would this be considered calico?

My newest guy, yeti, seems like someone used leftover scraps to make him. I didn't notice his little splotch under his chin until after we had him a couple days. I was always told Calicos are 99% female, but my buddy certainly is tri colored. Obviously it doesn't matter either way, I'm just curious.

He would be considered a tabby and white DSH.

That slightly faded brownish colour is very common in tabby cats, male and female. You can see it on his cheeks as well. If you check his back legs he probably has lighter coloured brown fur there too.

He's a sweetie!

Thank you, that is helpful! Yep, he does have it on his back legs as well. And he sure is he sweetheart! Hard to believe a month ago he was an outdoor mouser. 🥰

Yes, brown / black tabbies are known to have quite often warm reddish nuances on part of the fur.... Looks almost as bi / three colored.

And therefore; You are not the first whom thinks her brown tabby is really a torbie with white / caliby / calico.
