Hi everyone,

I am trying to transition my 8 year old himmie off of dry food (I had no idea how bad it is and was feeding him the organic grain free variety for years thinking I was doing a good job). I bough a few cans of natures variety and am trying to get him into wet food.

I highly doubt he would eat raw food off the bat. What is the best way to make this transition? Is there a good canned food that people recommend? I know wet food isnt optimal but Im thinking a gradual transition with wet food would make more sense. Any ideas?

Is he currently being free fed, or is he already on scheduled feedings?  If free fed, first you need to get him used to eating on a schedule.  Then it's easier to move him over to a new food.  Have you seen these articles?

Wet food is much better than dry, and most people would much rather feed that than raw
.   As far as a good canned food that people recommend, boy, that's opening a can of worms
.  EVERY body has their own opinion on what they think is the best!  BUT, IMHO, the "best" is what you can get your little furry one to eat.  I have 3 cats, and they all eat something different.  One eats raw, one eats low carb canned, and the other eats whatever she wants, just because she's a kidney cat and she needs to eat
.  (they ALL used to eat raw, but for some reason, two decided they didn't like it anymore.  the one who still does absolutely LOVES it)

Here's an article to help you with choosing canned foods:  http://www.thecatsite.com/a/what-makes-the-best-canned-cat-food
