Sooo, I made a friend recently. He sleeps on cars around my apartment complex and doesn't have a home. A guy near me leaves some food out for him, so I know he's not living anywhere. He's kinda shy -- probably because he's a stray -- but after weeks of me hanging around him he finally let me pet him. He became more and more comfortable with me over time and started to "trust me" to the point to where he'd follow me around when we'd see each other I've actually been able to teach him to "heel", JUST like a dog!!! He walks right next to me and periodically looks up at me to see if he's doing okay, and I'll reach down and pet him in approval. We've been doing this for over three weeks now. He seems like one of the smartest cats ever!!! In the past 2 weeks he's been coming into my apartment and hanging out/sleeping here sometimes. He's very sweet and won't ever scratch me, but he can be jumpy at noises he doesn't know. He also won't get on my lap or anything, but I'm sure his being a stray contributes to being uncomfortable with that.
So I decided to research what he could be, since he looks like a Siamese... except for his body size and the white feet. I quickly discovered the Snowshoe Cat and he fits the description (temperament/personality and appearance-wise) with only ONE exception -- the upside-down white "V" on his face is very, very faint. I would rather just call it 'incomplete'. My opinion is that someone trying to breed Snowshoes probably just got rid of the cats in the litter that didn't 100% match the Snowshoe criteria, since it's all based on recessive genes and very difficult to get right. He's smart, relational, loyal, stocky and long, his coat is short and sleek, blue eyes, white paws and dark points on ears/nose/legs. Even the "meow" fits the description; it's very soft and melodic as a Snowshoe's should be, and he doesn't do it much at all.
I'd love to hear your opinions I'm really curious to hear from those familiar with the breed!!!
Thank you
