SoS for pain.

Middie is old and will probably need to be euthanized. She has been in a lot of pain for most of the night. The vet does not open for another 4 hours. What can we do to ease her in the mean time?

Hi. There is nothing for humans that can be given to Middie for pain. I am sorry for her and for you, but you are going to have to wait for the vet to open. You don't by any chance have some left over gabapentin that was previously given to her or another cat, do you? If you do, you could give her some of that. Either follow the dosing guidelines on the bottle, but best not to give her more than 50mg, just to take the edge off for her.

If not that, your only other recourse would be an ER vet.

Thank you for the reply. A roommate does have some gabapentin. We were looking into it but a bit learey.
