I need suggestions how to transition a fish lover to a meat/poultry lover.
Ritz strongly prefers tuna and salamon to any other source of protein, has since I adopted her over a year ago. (She dumpster dived for the first five months of her life before she was rescued. Long, wonderful, story, for another time/forum.)
A lot of cat food companies get their fish from Asia (like, Japan). Add to that the mercury content and that fish can cause crystals to form in the urine, and I'd really like Ritz to eat other sources of protein. She loves chicken/turkey BABY food but for obvious reasons, I can only rarely give that to her [when she throws up].
Also, Ritz won't touch pate style food, only gravy, sauce. She eats almost exclusively wet food, except when she's turned up her nose at four different kinds of food and I feed her a little dry food in desperation.
She needs to watch her weight, too (medium tall cat, around ten pounds; about 20 to 24 months old).
Any ideas? Thanks.
