I just defrosted all of my hare-today meat in a big pot of water. Stupidly I didn't measure out my Alnutrin powder first, and now realize I only have 31 grams instead of the necessary 40 grams for 10lbs of meat.

I'm leaving town on Tuesday and this batch was for my cat sitter to use. Should I just measure it all out and see how much meat I'm able to use with 31 grams of Alnutrin? I guess I'd just toss the rest of meat because there's no use keeping just 2lbs of random meat that I've already thawed and re-frozen twice.

Also, 8lbs of meat calls for 32 grams of Alnutrin... you think I could get away with just using 31 grams, since that's what I have left?

So now I'm making myself paranoid... so this is what I'm about to mix:

6lbs ground whole turkey

1lb ground turkey organs

1lb boneless turkey thighs (to dilute some of the bone)

31 grams of Alnutrin for meat & bone

4 cups of water.

Sound about right?

well... 40 g/10lb = 4g/1lb

You have what... 8 lbs?... so 4*8=32...

If that's the way it's supposed to be used, I'd say you're on target.

*disclaimer....

I feed frankenprey, so have never actually used the Alnutrin.

You're only off by 1 gram of Alnutrin? I'd mix 8 lbs and forget it. Especially since you have bones and organs in the mix.
