Hi,
I have a mom.
She moved into my apartment as I went off to college on east coast.
I made the patio nice, two chairs, with pads.
And one day a cat appeared on one.
Mom texted me she saw a cat.
She went out later to pet it.
It was there the next day.
And the next.
And the next...
After a while mom gave the cat something to eat or drink, and it decided to adopt mom.
It got cold after a month, and it stayed, so mom began at night bringing it inside.
She had no collar, mom or the cat.
Mom told the apartment managers who said they must call the pound.
Mom did not want to let the cat die, and did not know the shelter no longer is a killing one, so she told the man she wants to keep it.
He went away.
The managers knew mom kept it and said they would waive the $200 annual fee.
They wanted the cat to have her.
And mom to have a cat.
Mom had bought food, litter, and a person gave her a litter box.
Cat named her Kat.
Then one day Kat was outside and a man grabbed her.
Mom is old but yelled at him and ran around the apartment fast.
He claimed it was his Peaches.
Kat did not respond to that name...and she is grey.
Turns out he had a big dog, came from a different state, and was divorced.
This cat was his wife's, but had a different name!
He lived across from us, but Kat did not ever try to go to his home.
In fact, she fears dogs.
We told the managers, and it seems he lived there two years...and never told them they had a cat.
He never put out a lost poster in the office.
He had not paid the $400 due for fees.
He had a little talking to by the managers after he told my mom he wanted to take the cat from her.
He then said she can keep it.
