One of my rescue cats is a female orange tabby with a mix of black and white whiskers, but mostly black.

I can find one other photo online of an orange tabby with black whiskers. How rare is this?

Her mother was a tortie, but had white whiskers.

They do seem to have white whiskers usually. I wonder if it's genes from her tortie mom being expressed? Curious!

Many orange cats have black "freckles". It's possible that her freckles are on the whisker roots. It's also possible that she's genetically a tortie, no way to know that without breeding her, but I think it's more likely to be pigmentation.
