Blackie is the last feral cat that adopted us. She showed up at the beginnng of last spring. She started playing with me, then I got her to eat from my hands. December 1st she decided it was the right time to allow me to pet her. In a little over a month she has went from very little contact to knocking on my door when she wants something. And of course I drop what I'm doing and go outside with her. I usually sit outside with her 3 or 4 times a day. Most of the time she doesn't want food when she knocks she just wants to be petted and talked to. If she is hungry and doesn't want what I have I will go get her something else. We've tried to let her but she is still scared and I also have 2 indoor cats that are bullies. In the last couple days she's decided I have to pet her the entire time she eats. If I stop she will scream until I start again. She also thinks I have to sit on the porch steps or on the ground to pet her. I was sitting in a chair yesterday and as soon as she noticed she started SCREAMING. It wasn't her normal yell. It sounded like she was in pain or something was very wrong. I got up from the chair and sat on the porch step (which was wet from the rain) to see if I could figure out what was wrong. As soon as I sat down she came over and crawled on my lap and started purring. She also protects me from any other cat (even from the ones that were there before her).
Each one of my cats has me figured out. I just didn't expect the ferals and stray to figure it out this quickly.
Stacey, and the very spoiled Princess, Patsy, Sweetie, George and Blackie.
