Well, I sure wish I had known about this clinic last year when Kirsty was dying and when I it was time for Tristan, Bear and Lion's annual vaccinations! The other clinic always left me feeling distressed because it was so noisy and poorly designed and you always felt that you being rushed through. The people were caring for the most part but there was a distinct less-than-professional air about the place. I didn't know enough about the community then to locate another clinic in the area.
I found this one while driving by a few weeks ago and would never have known it was a local one by its name but it is just about the same distance and much much nicer! I stopped in then, they were happy to give me a tour, and said that one of the vets is a cat specialist, so I requested him.
Abbie and Freija went for their annual check up and boosters this morning. I had already decided they were not getting FeLeuk again, and I did make arrangements with this clinic for them to get in the Purevax rabies since it is non-adjuvanted - the other clinic said they didn't use it and wouldn't order it. I also discussed with the vet about not giving them annual boosters - and he agrees! He actually recommends that if they have had annual boosters on a regular basis that owners consider going every second year instead . He does that with his own cats. Since Abbie is highly allergic to a lot of different things she also has to have an antihistimine before her booster. He was really good about reading her previous medical history, asking questions and making comments and notations on his own sheets about her. I feel so reassured. He also expressed her anal glands that I knew needed doing - she had been scooting - and they sure were full and beginning to get pasty - so wants her back in for a recheck in a month. To top it all off, the prices were very reasonable - more so than the other clinic! $15 for the annual check-up and it was a pretty thorough check up as well, and $15 for each vaccines and the antihistimine.
I am happy today - and now that they are back home, Abbie and Freija are much happier too. Abbie is feeling especially laid back after the antihistamine :-) so I just need to keep an eye on them for the rest of the day but don't expect any problems.
