new cat tree

Yesterday I got a cat tree from amazon. I thought Foley and Maia were going to be ecstatic with it and even fight over who got to be on the top. Surprise surprise... they did not even get near the darn tree. I put catnip all over it and all Foley did was rub himself against it after eating all the catnip. Then he was hanging out in the bottom of the tree. I put Maia on top and she immediately jumped down. I don't know if its because they have no nails because they just got them clipped or because they have never had a cat tree before.

just give them time, eventually they may start using it and playing on it

I really hope so. I was so excited to see them jump up and down.

i made one, they didn't use it at first but some time after they uses it

rubbing some catnip on it will help

Yeah did that and they ate it all but still don't climb the tree

I had a similar experience with a new cat tree.  It took several days for my cats to get used to it.  I did put a couple of their sleeping blankies on the tree so it would smell familiar, and sprayed catnip on it, which got them interested enough to at least start checking it out.  Give it a few days until the 'new' smell wears off.

Foley goes up sometimes

Maia does not even go close to it.

shes a brat though 

very spoiled 

maybe she wants her own tree without having to share it with Foley
