Male Cat Relentlessly Trying To Mount Female

As the title says my male is constantly trying to do the female literraly all freaking day! He herrases her so bad, she has to hide under my bed all day just to get away from him. She can't even leave with out immediately getting mounted. Locking him in the bathroom is the only break she can have but he'll just go straight after her as soon as I let him out. I rather not lock any of my fuzy babies up but this is absolutely ridiculous! I am not an expert on animals at all so any advice would be appreciated. The female has been fixed but the male has not been fixed. I don't know there exact age but they are both adults.

Ps I know he's likely in heat. So I guess the question would be how to calm him down so my female cat can be less stressed and harassed. Sorry for the lack of details, I posted this in the middle of the night and I'm sleepy. I'm also new and don't know how to use this site yet.

Yes. He needs to be neutered. Males don't go into heat. It's not going to get any better until he is fixed. He will drive you insane and since he's not getting what he wants from her, he may try to get outside and things will only get worse. Why You Should Spay And Neuter Your Cats
