Is it ok to feed kitten food to adult cats? Will they receive enough nutrition? I bought Maxximum Nutrition in the kitten formula - they only had the adult formula in great big bags. I figure it's got to be better than many of the other foods sold at Wal-mart (though I'm still suspect of it because it's rumored to be owned by Purina which has by-products at the top of its ing. list), kitten formula or not. The only thing I worry about is it maybe not keeping her full, or not providing enough nutrients. I plan to mix some Purina Complete in with it until that is all gone, so she will have some adult food. You guys talked me into the Maxx
, so we'll see how it goes! My cat is pretty sensitive, so if it really is no better than Purina, it will be evidenced in her digestion and her appearance. I swear her coat looks so much shinier and sleeker on Iams than say Nine Lives. Even Iams (whoever said this on my thread yesterday was right) has by-products as the second ingredient! I'm still not exactly sure what the difference is b/w chicken by-products and chicken/chicken meal. I've heard that companies will use chicken feet or beaks or even roadkill (??), so that's why I'm trying to find a better food for Maisey. I'll report back after she's been on Maxx for awhile to tell you all my thoughts on it.
