Hi Everyone
I found this site by total accident, I'm not even sure now what I was looking for in the first place, but 4 hours later I think I've been around the whole site now and commented on a few threads. What a brilliant site and so informative! It's got just about everything here you need, even the quizzes! I can't find the babbling forum though, but I'll keep looking.
I've always had cats but I lost my feral cat a few years ago, I rescued her while we were in Germany at 6 weeks old, she remained feral for the whole of her 17 years until the very end when she would venture into the front room and sit on my lap! 2 years ago I started feeding two stray cats who are also feral but they've learnt to trust me a little bit now and don't hiss when I put their food down. One day a Ginger cat appeared in the garden eating the bird seed (!) clearly starving! I called to him and he came straight to me. I decided to keep him in the house until I could find the owner, I thought he had got lost. I went to every cat home, vet, and social media sites trying to find his cat mum. Eventually I got an email from a man who recognised Jasper, his story was so sad. He and his brother lived with a single mum in a small cluster house with two dogs and her son. She didn't feed the cats and it was left up to the neighbours to feed them (he sent me a photo). The people where she lived contacted the RSPCA who visited and reported her to the housing association, she was evicted and left leaving the cats behind. Jasper's brother apparently died and it was then that Jasper left that area and found my garden. I'm so glad he did, after the story he was straight to the vets for neutering, chipping and jabs! So happy ending for him and I love him to pieces! I now have a Black cat who also looks as she might be feral, she's young, no more than 7 months I'd say and she runs as soon as I look at her but she has made friends with Jasper and they play together in the garden. She will eat the food I put down for her but only when I'm out of site. I'll be doing the same with her as I did with Jasper and try and find an owner but I suspect she was born in the wild so she's going to be much harder work. But I'll persevere!
Love the site and I'll be here often
