I need help with uploading an avatar and pictures

For some reason when I "brouse" to upload a photo, my computer is not bringing up all of my pictures.  They are all JPEG, so I am not sure what I am doing wrong.  I have tried finding the folders and they are not being recognized.  Can anyone help me?

Are you using a the mobile site from a phone or tablet, or are you on a desktop or laptop?

No, I am using my laptop computer that holds all of my pictures....when I try to upload, it says I have no pictures in the file folder and if I pull them up on my computer, they are there and all JPEG.

Is it looking in the right folder?

Unfortunately it says the folder is empty, but I can pull it up on my computer and all the photos are in there.  I don't understand how it can't see the photos in the folder because they are all JPEG
