Hello,
Was wondering if anyone could help answer a coupla questions please?
1st over a yr ago i was given a pure white kitten(green eyes) from a mixed coloured litter (2x grey, 1 ginger tab,1 grey tab, 1 white) and i was wondering how rare or often this happens?
And 2nd is she now has 3 kittens of her own from either a big fluffy tortise shell type or a fluffy grey tab but all of her kittens have come out pure white like her. Is this common or is this rareish occurance because ive never really seen/ heard or could find much info about them.

White cats are fairly rare just because every white cat needs to have at least one white parent. Do you know what color her mother was? If her mother wasn't white then her father definitely was.

It's unusual that all her kittens came out white, unless their father was also white. A cat with the dominant white gene can only have white kittens, but because she came from a mixed litter she probably doesn't have the dominant white gene. For a cat with the non-dominant white gene, usually only about half of the kittens would be white. . .but sometimes the odds can be odd .

Hello Willowy,

Her Mum is Grey Siamese.
I thought it to be a bit strange the only 2 males were the 2 mentioned.

Thank you

How old are the kittens now? Since her mother is pointed, it's possible for her to have pointed kittens as well. Pointed kittens are born white and it can take a couple weeks for the coloring to show up. In the picture, the top kitten looks like it may have some coloring on his/her ears, unless that's just a shadow or something. That would be more in line with the odds, for her to have 1 pointed and 2 white, or the other way around.

She is pretty a good look alike of Russian White.

Its also possible her mommas litter was after two different toms. She got her white gene after the white tom.

If so it could explain everything, esp if one of her kittens is a point. If the point is red it will not be visible very easily at first. Creme are even more difficult to see on young kittens.
