Well, even after a month of confinement in the kitchen, kitty still wants to go pee on the carpet. I've pretty much given up on trying to stop her. She just finds a new spot to go. Vet thinks I'm waaay too paranoid about my cat now since I brought her in three times just this past couple months and I'm planning to take her again later this week just in case
. It's wierd that he doesn't just do a urinalysis instead of just giving me antibiotics to give to her all the time, doesn't seem to do anything.
Anyway, does anyone know a good way to get rid of urine off the carpet? This is really soaked in urine mind you (the beige colored carpet is noticeably yellow where she's gone, even after scrubbing/cleaning). I've tried nature's miracle (pretty much dumped a bottle of the stuff where the urine was), and used a "dual formula" Woolite pet odor eliminator (the one with two spray bottles connected to each other). Neither really got the smell or stains out. I'm thinking of renting one of those carpet shampooing machines and washing the carpet. I live in an apartment so can't really just go and change the carpet. The floor underneath is cement if that makes any difference on how to go about removing urine.
I'm going to Lowes and Home Depot tomorrow to get some plastic runner and carpet runner, idea is I'll lay plastic runner on the carpet and carpet runner on top of that so the urine stays on the carpet runner and the plastic runner prevents the urine from soaking into the carpet underneath. Hopefully she'll pee on that instead and I can chuck it away at the end of my lease next year. Sigh...
But I'd REALLY appreciate any ideas on how to get rid of the urine smell.
