I saw that Simon had a dingleberry that needing tending to. When the royal tail was lifted, I saw that the piece of poop wasn't stuck to his fur; rather, it was hanging by a thread of kitty fur coming out of his sphincter.
I combed off the visible chunk but was *not* about to grasp at the bit of fur hanging halfway out his butt.
I love my cat, but, boy, can he be a gross one sometimes.

Right and then bathe him, or wash him in the rear area. Once he is dry, comb some cornstarch into his fur and groom him out. I would also start adding some fiber to his diet, either cooked and mashed green beans, or canned pumpkin.

No, no... Nothing was actually stuck to his fur. He had a piece of poop essentially dangling because it was attached to a strand of fur (which was still connected somewhere inside of him). I have, however, wiped his backside with a cat-cleaning wipe and will clip his fur a bit again. I will also give him some pumpkin to better help him pass out the fur he's been ingesting.
