Do cats care if you speak to them?

Indeed. The longer I've had Bud, the more I realize he acts pretty much the same as a toddler.

Mingo is the same. He reminds me of a two-year-old.

@Bengalcatman  Makena is amazing.  Sometimes I can get my cat to go back and forth with me a bit like that, but that video showed very deliberate communication from Makena!  Amazing!

I have full-on conversations with my cats! For the most part I speak in my language, but sometimes I speak in theirs. I'm sure I have a horrible accent though. I'm sure there are some of mine that are ok without me talking, but some demand I speak. And they will get louder and more insistent if I don't.

Oscar is very much like that. So was Lucky.

That's quite possible; cats are known for taking the legs right out from under us with just a gesture or two.
