Changing litter box location

Is it safe to move the location of the litter box ? I don't want any accidents, but practically it makes more sense for it to be across the room. We have two litter boxes for two cats and they both use both. I just want to move one across the room. Its a big open area.

I have done it multiple times with no problem. It helps that the litter boxes are where I spend time at so they follow me. Bedroom,batthroom,and living room. They will go where they smell the litter( thier pee )

As long as it's the same general area, it should be fine. Show them the new location and they will be fine.

I've read that if you move the box by increments over a week or so, --more slowly if there are any issues, that can help the cat(s) more easily adjust to the final location.

Technically you should have the same number of litter boxes + 1 for the number of cats in your house, e.g. if you have 2 cats you should have 3 litter boxes. How Many Litterboxes Should You Have? – TheCatSite Articles
