Hi guys. This month been the worst in my life. I’ve been trying to help my cat all the time it began when he stopped pooping a lot. I took him to the vet gave him some kind of oils to make him poop easier. Changed the litter changed everything. Now he pooped a bit then it started again no poop and he stopped eating. Even his favorite treats, so i took him to the vet 2 days ago. And he put something in his ear like a yellow paste to increase appetite and some more oils. And gave me some fiber food to mix with his food. He pooped a bit and ate a small portions but now its back again no eating and no pooping, i am gonna take him to the vet today but he thinks that he might need surgery because he thinks its his intestines muscles are very week to push food or something like that. And he wants to check his kidney’s. Did anyone ever go through this if so what happened ?

btw i feed him the hill c/d food and wet food since like 4 years ago he had kidney problems and used to pee blood but that food fixed it so i stuck with it

i am very worried about him.I have so many memories and his my best buddy when i am sad😭

Been There..ckd
I suggest something I did recently and I will continue to suggest it.
Take your fur baby to an INTERNAL MEDICINE SPECIALIST at the local vet hospital. They have more insight on these problems than the everyday General Practitioners at your local vet clinic and can work along with them after your consult and treatment!

I can only suggest you give him some fibre, pure pumpkin, no additives, mixed in with his food might help and add water to each meal.

If he's not eating, he's not going to have anything to poop out. Make sure you're feeding him wet/canned/pouch only food and add in some water as well as a little bit of plain pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie spice). Try adding a second litter box just to make sure he has the option to urinate in one box and poop in another box.

Thank you all for the suggestions guys. I just placed a second litter box in the house and he just peed in it. I tried putting another wet food for him right now and he ate just a bit. Should i start warming up wet food for him in the mircowave ?

I wish we had specialized vets here with all kind of skills. But we only have 1 in this city and he suggested some kind of surgery and blood tests

i will go buy pumpkin puree for him tomorrow

You could try warming the wet food, you could also sprinkle a little Fortiflora on top, its a mild probiotic.

One of mine is a fussy eater but if I sprinkle Fortiflora on top of his food he eats it all. A cat can have one sachet a day but I use less than half a day. Let us know how you get on.

I found that the suggestions from the long time pet owners on this forum work. I have gone through similar not eating/not pooping/not drinking with my ckd cat.
Recently she has been on the prescription foods and at long last really likes them.
She is on Mirataz for her appetite every other day at a low dose every other day. She will not even touch any Hill's with the Mirataz but loves Royal Canin wet renal D E and T foods.
I alternate them and from searching the posts found these suggestions helpful:
1 chicken breast ...boil it in water, no seasonings.
I stuck the shredded pieces in a Bullet Blender so that it was shredded really well to the consistancy of italian table parmesian cheese.
I mixed the Royal Canin with pinches of the chicken and spooned the broth on top.
before feeding , I microwave it for about 5 seconds to bring out the aroma...10 if it was in the refrigerator.
I also made ice cube trays and filled them with little amounts of broth and shredded chicken so it won;t go to waste.
I alternate the foods and SHE LOVES IT.

If she likes tuna, you can open a can (I use no salt added) and cover it with water and let it sit and soak for an hour or 2. then separate liquid from the tuna and flake it on as a topping as well as a bit of the broth.
I also made tuna cubes in the freezer.

These are from suggestions here on the forum and they have been a hit with my Louise.. She gets her renal foods, she gets her liquids and she gets the flavor.

As stated by some in this thread.. if she doesn't eat, don;t expect any poop..nuttin in, nuttin out!

So if your vet is nearby, perhaps you can go in and buy a few cans of a different food..(maybe she is tired of a certain food????)
They can sell you a few individual cans for about $8 for 3 or 4 and then , if she likes one of them, you can place a big order.

I'd try that and the pumpkin before I put her under exploratory surgery and anesthesia especially if she is a senior cat.
So while you are out getting pumpkin tomorrow, a chicken breast and a can of tuna is a suggestion too!

I wouldn't warm it in the microwave. It's easy to get it too warm (don't ask me how I know that). You can heat water and use the warm water in the food to warm it up, or you can heat a shallow bowl of water, set your food dish in the warm water and warm it up that way.

Your vet should be able to feel if there's a blockage in his bowel and a scan/ ultrasound ( not sure which they do) should show up any blockage in the intestines. If he does have a blockage then he wont want to eat but try to make sure he drinks water. Lets hope its simply remedied for him and you. Keep us updated.

It depends where, if its in the bowel then I would think an enema will clear it. I wouldn't let him have surgery until the vet can tell where and maybe what it is. Is he eating at all or pooping. Hairballs often cause blockages and most can he cleared with medication. What has your vet said.

Okay so i talked with him. And told him that today he started eating his dry food that i mixed some pro fiber food with. Not like before by all means but he still ate. The vet said thats good but i am just scared he wont poop after eating. I am gonna try to feed him some wet food in a bit hope he likes it. And tonight i am gonna boil some chicken breasts and cut it to small pieces and see if he will enjoy that too.

but as the vet said if he ate even a bit its a good sign? Gonna give my cat a few days and see how he is
