Bailey chewing rug fringe

Bailey is making fringe on the end of our rugs part of her diet. We're discouraging her with squirts of water and loud "Nos!" Is this a sign of anything other than just misbehaving? Not a nutritional need or anything?

Carolyn...it sounds to me as if your kitty is treating the rug fringe as a toy. Have you thought of putting bitter apple on the fringe?? I don't know if it stains but it does discourage cats from eating things they shouldn't.
