I posted on another thread about Sasha's spay experience. No problems, done on Monday. On Tuesday she started with fevers, chills and higher than normal heart rate and respirations. Finally today after testing, steroid shots, etc. at my regular vet they sent me 1 1/2 hrs away to the specialist hospital.
I really liked the vet, she seem patient and interested. The first thing they were checking was the heart with an echocardiogram - all fine. She is still having high respirations and a little fever (off/on). The heart being OK is great news. Then they ran blood tests - CBC/FELV/Leuk - all OK, a few of them seemed high normal but nothing glaring.
Sasha is eating, drinking less than normal but took some chix broth tonight and milk last night. She just is breathing fast (not laboring or wheezing) and has the "chills" (hard to explain, never seen these in a cat before but just little shaking).
I'm back home now with some antibiotlc and pain meds. She doesn't seem to be in any pain from the spay, it looks good and she has been jumping etc. however vet said to give it to her just in case. She did say it might be neurological, or even FIP (scary). Just seems like we are all over the place.
Do any of these symptoms sound familiar to anyone? Could the spay have caused any of this? I'll take any ideas I can follow up on right now (at least it will cost less than the 788.00 vet bill tonight
)
Thanks so much
