I'm so deflated right now.
My DD is moving up to real furniture that will last her till she moves out. I've wanted to get her furniture that'll last, real wood that won't show the MDF underneath the veneer at the first ding (like my desk...). Of course the super cute set I found at a local furniture store would cost me around $3,000. Not happening.
Monday I found a set online that is very similar in style and finish for nearly 1/3 of the cost. It seems to be better quality than say what I'd get from Walmart or Target; but I wouldn't expect it to match the quality of the $3000 set. (I'm only looking to get a bed, nightstand, dresser and mirror.) We purchased a new mattress for DD this weekend and it should arrive Friday or Saturday.
After thinking on it DH and I decided to order that set online. They have showrooms; but the nearest to us is over 3 hours away. They offer shipping to our area though so I was fine with it. So I just went to do it. They schedule the delivery right online... The first date that came up is the end of SEPTEMBER!!
That's a LONG wait for something that isn't even a custom piece! The set from the furniture store would have to be ordered because I want a wood finish and that lead time is only 4-6 weeks.
I'm not sure what to do. I may try calling their customer service number when it quiets down here. Is 3 months as unreasonable as it sounds to me? They use their own service and even if we wanted to pick it up at that showroom 3 hours away; they say online orders cant be picked up in stores.
If I go with it and wait; DD will be sleeping on a mattress on the floor I guess!
