Wow! I guess I should quit worrying. My Sami is 17 weeks and weighs almost 6 pounds and I for some reason felt she was not eating enough. She gets two 3oz cans of Royal Canin Kitten a day, sometimes 2 1/2 cans, along with free fed Wilderness Kitten kibble. She has really slowed down on her...
Haven't seen that one, but I saw a stuffed Ragdoll that looks like Sami in our book/gift store. It's kitten sized so I bought it for her and she loves it! I think she can't quite figure out why it doesn't play back though. LOL
All great ideas! If my beloved Raven (Golden/Black Lab cross) was still with me I could have tons of felted fur balls! Rings cut from the paper towel roll were a hit too. Something about the used Q-tips grosses me out, but hey, cats have their reasons. But yesterday, my brother got her a set of...
Hi all,
I am going to have to Spring for a new tree for my Sami and was looking for advice. I live in the middle of nowhere and can't go actually look at them so whatever I get will have to be ordered online. It has to be really sturdy....the one I have now almost topples when she races across...
When you do let him have the run of the house, be sure it is kitten proofed! Pay special attention to the cords that hang from blinds and curtains and electrical cords. Be sure his nails are kept trimmed...they can sometimes get their claws hung up and have trouble getting free.
".....dry food just gets shoved off to the point I may as well feel them on the floor."
Sami thinks dry kibble is "prey"! She rakes a couple of pieces out with her paw, chases them around the house, finally eats them and then comes back to do the same thing all over again. I find pieces of...
Just watch out for meal moths if it is not a grain free food. You will see bits of very fine web inside the bag and sometimes, tiny little pin prick holes in the bag itself.
"Fluffing it up with a fork"
And I thought I was the only one who had been "trained" to do that! :lol3: Sami does not like it when her food gets flattened out in her bowl. I have to "fluff" it and get it all back into a nice little mound in the middle of her bowl!
One thing I learned after being owned by several felines is that when they do something naughty just to get your attention, you need to ignore them if possible, as any reaction whatsoever, negative or positive achieves the intended result....getting your attention! Sami has decided that 3:00...
Could it possibly be ringworm? Might ask the vet to at least check with a Woods lamp and see if the fur around that lesion shows anything. Ringworm (a fungus, not a worm) can be itchy or not.
I find myself constantly trying to come up with new toys to keep Sami interested and challenged and am looking for new ideas. She gets bored with most store bought toys after a day or two. I take those away to be presented again at a later date. So far it seems that simple things like large...
Hmmm...looks like she is going to make the decision for me! She has refused anything but Royal Canin canned kitten. Tried sneaking in a bit of Weruva , then a bit of Earth Born which a friend gave me to try, and tonight even a tiny bit of Fancy Feast Classic. Each time I just got this...
Ignorant. Best thing to do is clear your life of such people. And not just the ones who hate cats, but the ones who hate any animal. Heck I am not particularly fond of venomous snakes such as the Copperhead, but I don't hate them. If possible I just try to relocate them to a suitable habitat...
The breeder where I got my kitty does not do genetic testing for this as they claim the tests are unreliable as far as false positives and false negatives. The only other breeder within driving distance (I refused to have a tiny kitten shipped) said their kittens were "clear via lineage" but...
I think it is the blinking motion that attracts them. That and moving reflections in your eyes, like the TV. Sami did this a few times, though gently. I said "Oww!" Really loudly and held my eye (even though she did not hurt me) and immediately walked away. She seemed to get the message. I think...
Sweet potato I don't mind too much, as long as my kitty doesn't, but just plain potato aggravates me....pure starch and little else since I am sure the skin, which contains most of the nutrients in a white potato, is not included. I think it's just a slick way of adding a filler that they can...
Exactly the conclusion I came to this morning! Rotation of god, if not perfect foods. In addition it just might keep her from becoming finicky and only wanting one specific food and then I don't panic if there is a recall or the food suddenly becomes unavailable.
