Anyone with experience with osteosarcoma and chemotherapy?

Hi, My 13 yr old cat Charlie developed an aggressive tumor on his leg. I had the leg amputated and he is doing great! However, the test came back positive for osteosarcoma and my primary vet said I might consider speaking with an oncologist about further treatment. Was wondering if anyone has...

I hope he is ok or it turns out to be something super minor.

15 Year Old Cat Seems To Be Declining - Not Sure What To Do?

I'd definitely take him in for some bloodwork at least. I've taken the "wait and see" approach in the past and then regretted it when it turned out to be something that would have been more easily treated (and less expensive) if caught earlier.

Have To Decide: Second Bladder Surgery Or Try Diet Change First?

Hi everyone, My 12yr old cat Charlie had a urinary blockage 3 years ago. Now he has been diagnosed with a bladder stone. The vet said that I can try to change his diet (Royal Canin Urinary + Calm) and have another xray in 4 weeks to see if stone is dissolving or do surgery to remove the stone...

Cat With Chronic Constipation. What Else Can I Try?

Hi everyone, My about 10 year old male cat, Charlie, had an emergency urinary blockage and I have a hard time getting enough fluid in him. The vet says his urine is still concentrated (but no sign of new crystals yet) but he is constantly somewhat to extremely constipated. His diet as of the...

finicky cat with calcium oxalate crystals - need food suggestions to try

Thanks for the links, Denice.  Hopefully I can get him to transition to canned food this way.  I wonder what would be the best kibble to eat in the meantime though, since the SO is acidifying!  I'm currently feeding him 1/4 cup of the SO kibble and then whatever he will eat of the canned.

finicky cat with calcium oxalate crystals - need food suggestions to try

Hi all, My 10yr old cat Charlie recently had a blockage and had surgery for what has turned out to be calcium oxalate crystals. He had been on Royal Canin SO diet since my other cat (now passed) had struvite crystals.   Vet is recommending switching to an all canned diet, but apparently...

Preventing Urinary blockages / reblockages - data and advice needed please!

So my cat Charlie survived his urinary blockage and bladder surgery!  How can I stop this from happening again? He was already on Royal Canin SO dry food except for a brief stint of eating Fancy Feast about a month ago.  I will find out exactly what kind of stones he had in about 2-3 weeks but...

    Cat urinary blockage!

Thanks, Susan.   I'm reading up about the PU surgery and it seems like most vets don't recommend it on the first blockage, but apparently he has a stone IN his urethra that may be stuck there?

    Cat urinary blockage!

Hello everyone, My 10yr old Charlie developed a urinary blockage tonight and I rushed him to the emergency vet.  Turns out he needs bladder surgery and possibly  perineal urethrostomy.  Has anyone been through this and did it turn out ok?   I just lost my other cat to cancer 3 weeks ago and am...

Cat with new kidney problems - how bad is this, what should I expect?

Thank you so much for the response, but I got an ultrasound done on him today and turns out he has a pretty aggressive cancer in both his intestines and kidney :(  The vet is going to come by tomorrow to euthanize him before he gets any worse.  Thank you anyway for the encouragement.

Cat with new kidney problems - how bad is this, what should I expect?

Hi everyone, 11 days ago I noticed my 14yr old cat Spike seemed to have suddenly lost a lot of weight. The next day, he wasn't eating unless I pushed chicken under his nose. I took him to the vet first thing on the third day (Monday). There was no sign of UTI. He was very dehydrated so I had to...

    pellet fuel as cat litter?

thanks GoldenKitty! yeah I wasn't so sure about the flushing part... I think you are right not to risk it. But is it easy to clean out the wet parts of the litter with this stuff? I think that is my odor problem - i scoop the poop several times a day.

    pellet fuel as cat litter?

I have a serious litter odor problem with three cats in a one bedroom apartment and the clumping and flushable stuff just seems so expensive. Not to mention air purifiers. Someone recommended useing "pellet fuel" and said that it is cheap and flushable? Has anyone tried this?

indoor cat tested positive for FeLV? Need advice!

thanks for the responses everyone! I live in a small town where there aren't any cat specialists, but my brother in NC takes his cats to one and I will call him to see if maybe he can ask them for me. I will also check out the sites recommended. I would just assume the Elisa test was wrong...

indoor cat tested positive for FeLV? Need advice!

I took Chibi back to the vet yesterday and had her tested again with both the Elisa and the IFA. She tested positive again with the Elisa test (although it was a faint positive) but I just found out that she tested negative on the IFA. From what I have been reading, it is possible for a cat...

indoor cat tested positive for FeLV? Need advice!

Well, I called my vet about the IFA test and they did not know what I was talking about at first, but looked it up and said that they can do it. (I tried another vet first that a friend recommended but they just insisted there was no such thing as an IFA test for FeLV!) So I am going to take...

indoor cat tested positive for FeLV? Need advice!

I had a CBC done right after she tested positive and the vet said it looked fairly healthy... something was a little too high (I can't remember what) but I remember he said her white blood cell count was normal. It is possible that she was exposed before we moved to the apartment when we...

indoor cat tested positive for FeLV? Need advice!

Hi everyone, On a routine check-up yesterday my seven year old tabby, Chibi, tested positive for FeLV with the Elisa test. I don't understand how this could have happened because she tested negative when she was younger and has not since been in contact with any cats other than my other six...
