    Overgrooming/ hot spot

So, a few months back we noticed a hot spot by the base of our cat's tail. We took her into the vet and they weren't sure what was causing it, but they tested for a few skin diseases and had us try an anti fungal cream and put her on a flea treatment. Nothing seemed to work and now she seems to...

Watery eye and third eye lid

Thanks for your replies! Update: I gently rinsed the eye with clean water and dug up some l-lysine for her dinner. She is looking much better this morning. The third eyelid is no longer showing and her eye isn’t watery any more. She is still squinting so her pupil isn’t dialating like the other...

Thank you for your reply! I just googled and visine is not safe, right? Maybe I can hold her and try to rinse with water.

Watery eye and third eye lid

Hi all! My girl just woke up with a watery eye and her third eyelid showing. She is acting perfectly normal and asking for food, but of course I’m worried. Is this a need for immediate vet attention or should I wait a day to see if it clears up? Thanks!

    Nasal Polyps

Hi all, I do still receive emails when people respond to this post/ inbox me. I'll try to help to the best of my memory, but this is on four years ago now! @TanCat, both vets I saw said that a polyp was unlikely. We all assumed that there would be nothing and were surprised that there was one...

    Cats and Collars/ Leashes

NewYork1303--Thanks for your reply.  I had not considered the fact that if she gets out she would know her way back had she become familiar with the area around her house, thats a good point we should think about. I think what my husband is worried about is that if she becomes familiar with...

    Cats and Collars/ Leashes

I have a four year old indoors kitty who has become interested in the outdoors. We allow her to go out and roll around on the porch and sniff the flowers outside with supervision, etc., but other than that she stays inside. She sometimes pushes her limits, but usually is slightly nervous about...

Is my cat a tortico, tortie with white or something else?

She sounds so sweet. My girl doesn't even meow. She just murmurs. When she thinks you are going to the kitchen to feed her, but don't she give you this disgruntled mur.

Kitty diarrhea- what to do from here?

They did run a fecal. Thank you for the extra info. I read it all before giving her the probiotics today. She just went and it was finally solid. Yay!

Kitty diarrhea- what to do from here?

Guess what, the vet says she seems healthy and suggested putting her on probiotics like you had suggested.

Kitty diarrhea- what to do from here?

Thanks for your reply! My husband and I talked about what you had said and agreed it was time to take her into the vet.

Kitty diarrhea- what to do from here?

We woke up Monday and our cat was very lethargic, she is usually a total rascal running around and getting into things. It was clear she wasn't feeling well. There was a puddle of diarrhea by the litter box and wasn't interested in eating or drinking. We threw away her can of cat food, but we...

    Nasal Polyps

Hello, I'm so sorry to hear about your cats. I commend you for taking them in even when you knew they were FIV positive. I know we were very worried that would be an issue with our cat. It sounds like they both had long, happy lives all things considered. The most frustrating thing is not...

Is my cat a tortico, tortie with white or something else?

What a cutie pie memphisthecat! I love the smudge on the forehead. She does look like my girl. I guess tortico is not an actual term. Cats that have a mottled patterns are torties and any coincidental patterning that includes white would just classify them as tortie and white. It's interesting...

    Nasal Polyps

Thanks mrsgreenjeans! I remember talking about how rare nasal polyps are. I was telling my husband the story you told me about the really old cat. Her Horner's syndrome is already looking better, her 3rd eyelid is no longer showing only her pupil isn't dilating just yet. Thanks to you to...

    Nasal Polyps

When I first started looking into the possibility of my cat having a nasal polyp I didn't hear a lot of stories of others' experiences, so I wanted to tell my story so if anyone else could identify similar issues in their cat it might help them out. I got my cat back in August from a shelter...

    probiotics

Thanks Ritz, I had her on l-lysine before, because I thought it might have been herpes, but my vet said that it was not and that l-lysine would not be helpful (though not hurtful either). I didn't get a chance to ask about the probiotics because my husband picked up her meds last time, but...

    probiotics

My vet thinks my cat has a nasal polyp that has been continuously collecting bacteria and giving her URIs that are treated with antibiotics and then return. While we are working with our vet to get it taken care of I would like to put my cat on some sort of probiotics that might help boost her...

    Nasal Polyps

Oh, that's so sad. My cat is only 2 years old, which I read somewhere polyps tend to be more likely at that age. She had mentioned a possible irregularity, but seemed to pass by it like it was unlikely. I'm not even sure what would be done if she did have something like scar tissue.
