My cat just had PU surgery and is having complications

Oh no! So sorry to hear he's having a rough time! There is very very little chance of his becoming reblocked after the surgery (its possible but so unlikely!) I do hope they check him for infection...after such a major surgery it is likely that could be the problem...also, Beast strained a bit...

My cat just had PU surgery and is having complications

So happy to hear that you have your boy at home! After Beast's pu surgery he tended to urinate in smaller amounts as well so its nothing to be too concerned about as long as the amount gradually increases back to normal...as I recall Beast did have a bit of light bleeding/oozing from his...

    Cat bleeding from penis

This sounds like he may be blocking and that is super serious and can be very painful and dangerous! Please get him to a vet! My cat went through this same thing back in December and if he is blocked they need to help him asap! Sending good thoughts your way!

My cat just had PU surgery and is having complications

So happy to hear that he is on the mend and eating well! It's great that you are doing these updates...when my cat went through PU surgery I was clueless and constantly seeking information to know what to expect so a resource from a first person perspective can be super useful to help people...

    What to do?

The new vet is holding off on more tests until the staph infection is cleared up so no thyroid checks yet...I'm not sure if he was dehydrated when this all started but as of Sunday he was not so no need for fluids at this time...fortunately he tends to drink a good amount of water (at least for...

My cat just had PU surgery and is having complications

Right now your poor boy is stuck in a cage with nothing else to focus on but that cath and how he feels...once you have him home and he is able to get closer to his normal routines it will get better for him! Ever since the surgery it takes Beast far more time and concentration to urinate and it...

    What to do?

Unfortunately the doxy is in pill form...we called around all over but the nearest location with it in liquid form was an hour away....I've been lucky in that I can sneak it into a pill pocket and then after he chews it I'm still squirting water into his mouth...I think I need to just get a...

My cat just had PU surgery and is having complications

Any surgery is so terrifying and I know pu surgery is especially so since my boy went through it back in December.  He was super weak and shaky afterward for a week but he was soon throwing tantrums over having to wear the cone and back to feeling better and I'm sure Jinxi will be soon too!  Its...

    What to do?

The urine sample was taken with a needle straight into his bladder (cystocentesis)so would be rare for it to have gotten contaminated.  The antibiotic which made him sick (not eating, watery stools, etc) was clindymicin...after I stopped giving him the clin he started urinating normally again...

    What to do?

I am rather flummoxed by a set of seemingly disparate illnesses of my cat. He just turned five and was perfectly healthy until last December.  His urethra blocked three times in a single week with no history of urinary issues.  At the end of the week it was a choice to put him through pu surgery...
