They were separated as soon as we realized what happened. We are not sure if the damage was already there before we discovered it or if the other kitten caused it. Surgery will be on Tuesday I believe as we have to have a surgeon do it.
No his brother was a persistent little stinker pot. They can't even be out together to play, he immediately and very aggressively goes after the other one. It will not heal over time it's damaged and he is unable to pee normal, it just leaks out of him.
Sad news.....the little kitten either had a deformity before the nursing or the other kitten caused a deformity from such aggressive nursing. He is going to need reconstructive surgery to correct it (basically making him a girl kitty essentially. :(
So I bottle raise a lot of kittens, so I have a lot of experience in doing so. I got 2 new ones on Monday, but I am also 8 months pregnant and exhausted so I just had them for a couple of days, then they went with a technician at the vet I work for, she's never raised before but wanted to give...
So just wanted to post an update. They are about 5 & 1/2 weeks old now, still bottle fed, although "Sweets" the little runt/girl started eating canned food with milk mixed in today on her own. Monkey the boy had no interes in it. He weighs 1# 3oz and she is 14oz, she is still super tiny and...
She is eating about 12-15ml every 2 & 1/2 to 3 hours. I am stimulating with a cotton ball, seems to work better than a towel or paper towel. I think we finally got her over the diarrhea slump, as her stools are firming up. She gained almost an entire oz this morning :)
I prefer to wait until they are spayed/neutered and do it at that time. The needle used is quite large and it's more painful than vaccinations. They don't have to shave them for it. But it is quite a large needle.
That just makes me angry. She should have NEVER been put under anesthesia unless it was life or death. She was not 'healthy'. I am so sorry you have had to go this. I would definitely get the word out about them.
I wash each of their bottles separately every time I fill them. I just have the 2 being bottle fed, the rest of the siblings are with a mom, these 2 were just not doing well so I was taking them home with me at night and putting them with mom during the day and supplement feeding, until the...
Update: DeeJay is doing wonderfully (knocking on wood), so good that miss grumpy pants herself literally purred during subq fluids last night.....she HATES being treated/medicated etc and usually protests VERY loudly. She has been extremely pestersome and was literally bugging the heck out of...
I would avoid the kidney diets, they caused extreme muscle wasting and weakness in my cat. Renal diets typically if used are best in late stage renal failure however they do cause muscle wasting because they are low in protein. What you want to do is find the low phosphorus foods on the...
Did she have bloodwork performed before the surgery? Was her hyperthyroidism being treated? Under control? That is very risky to put a hyperthyroid cat under anesthesia. Generally anesthesia deaths are linked to something like liver or kidney problems and/or heart problems. The liver and...
I just started it with my kidney disease cat after she quit responding to Cyproheptadine. She got 1/8 tablet over a week ago, and while it did make her loopy and such she has been eating like a champ for over a week now.
My dad is a vet and I have worked in the field for over 20 years. I have only seen maybe 2 issues with Microchipping, one was with my own personal cat who was inbred at a kitten mill and had a plethara of problems. His body literally rejected the microchip about 5 months after it was...
Update, they are both doing better :) Staying hydrated and doing well. She is up to 9oz now and he is 12oz, so they are both gaining every day (he is gaining about 1/2 oz and she is gaining about 1/4oz per day. She had her last episode of squirt/just come out diarrhea all over her yesterday...
My cat named Mouse HATES having her picture taken. She chirps/meows at me and always gives me 'crusty/dirty' looks. I don't think she looks depressed. Just a typical cat.
